Abstract

According to WHO (World Health Organization), health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not just freedom from disease or weakness/disability. From this description it can be concluded that health implies ideal health conditions, both from a biological, psychological and social perspective. Apart from that, WHO also describes several health characteristics that need to be known, including physical and spiritual health without involving external elements, health related to the internal or external environment, spiritual health, mental health or what is usually called mental health (WHO, 2022). Mental disorders are disorders in the way of thinking (cognitive), will (volition), emotions (affective), actions (psychomotor). One of the mental disorders that greatly affects and disrupts an individual's life is schizophrenia (Makhruzah et al, 2021).

Abstract

Health is an optimal body condition in terms of physical, mental and well-being aspects of life, where individuals are able to live a productive life both individually, socially and economically (Oktavilantika et al., 2023). Mental health according to WHO does not only indicate the absence of mental disorders in the form of changes in thoughts, feelings and behavior that cause inability to carry out activities, but also the presence of positive character that shows the normality of a person's soul so that he is able to carry out his daily life productively. Schizophrenia itself is a serious mental disorder that causes decline or even inability to communicate, cognitive impairment, and difficulty in carrying out daily activities. (Risal et al., 2022 & Afeanpah et al., 2022 ).

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder known for unclear thoughts, strange behavior and unreal sensory experiences that affect a person's thinking, feeling and acting and can make it difficult to distinguish between what is real and what is not. Patients with schizophrenia who experience delusions often feel angry and may be violent towards people they believe have hurt them. Uncontrolled anger in patients with schizophrenia will cause the risk of violent behavior (Auliati & Lubis, 2023; Wulandari et al., 2024).

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a chronic mental disorder characterized by cognitive, emotional, and behavioral disturbances that may lead to aggressive behavior. Violent behavior risk is one of the most common nursing diagnoses in paranoid schizophrenia patients, which can endanger themselves, others, and the environment. This study aimed to describe psychiatric nursing care for a patient with the main problem of violent behavior risk due to paranoid schizophrenia at Arimbi Ward, RSJD dr. Amino Gondohutomo, Central Java Province. A descriptive case study design was applied, involving data collection through interviews, observation, documentation review, and literature study. The nursing process included assessment, nursing diagnosis, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed that the patient exhibited symptoms of verbal aggression, tension, and refusal to take medication. Nursing interventions provided included pharmacological therapy, family psychoeducation, and group activity therapy. After the interventions, the patient showed decreased frequency of anger, improved cooperation with nurses, and willingness to participate in group activities. These findings highlight the importance of comprehensive psychiatric nursing care that integrates medical treatment and psychosocial interventions to reduce violent behavior risk in schizophrenic patients and to promote recovery and reintegration into the community.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterized by disturbances in thought, perception, emotions, and behavior, with auditory hallucinations being the most common symptom. This study aims to describe the nursing care process for patients with paranoid schizophrenia experiencing sensory perception disturbances, specifically auditory hallucinations. The research applied a descriptive case study design conducted in Dewaruci Ward, RSJD dr. Amino Gondohutomo, Central Java Province, from October to December 2024. Data were collected through interviews, direct observation, and medical record review, then analyzed using thematic analysis based on Miles and Huberman’s framework. The findings revealed that the patient was able to gradually reduce the intensity of auditory hallucinations and showed improvement in social interactions after nursing interventions, including identification of hallucinations, distraction techniques, therapeutic communication, and collaboration in pharmacological treatment. Family involvement also played an essential role in supporting the patient’s recovery process. This study implies that comprehensive nursing care based on bio-psycho-socio-spiritual approaches and family participation is effective in managing hallucinations and enhancing patient outcomes.

Abstract

Schizophrenia is a severe mental disorder characterized by a decline in cognitive abilities and social skills, an inability to care for oneself, and potential brain function impairment. One of the consequences often observed in schizophrenia patients is social isolation, where the individual is unable to interact with others around them. This study aims to assess and provide psychiatric nursing care for Sdr. A, who is experiencing the primary issue of social isolation: withdrawal due to paranoid schizophrenia at the Gatotkaca ward of RSJD dr. Gondohutomo in Central Java Province. Initial assessment of the patient revealed that Sdr. A is experiencing social isolation, particularly withdrawal from their social environment. Four nursing problems were identified, including social isolation: withdrawal, low self-esteem, sensory perception disturbances such as hallucinations, and self-care deficits. A nursing care plan was developed based on the Indonesian Nursing Diagnosis Standard , Indonesian Nursing Service Standard, and Indonesian Nursing Information System , tailored to the patient's condition at the time. The care plan includes interventions to enhance social interaction, improve self-esteem, address sensory perception disturbances, and promote self-care abilities. The nursing implementation was carried out using a holistic approach involving psychosocial support and appropriate medical therapy based on the patient’s needs. It is expected that through this approach, the patient can reduce social isolation symptoms and improve their quality of life. This study emphasizes the important role of psychiatric nursing care in addressing social issues in patients with paranoid schizophrenia and how a structured nursing care plan can support patient recovery.

Abstract

Health is a state of complete physical, mental and social well-being, not just freedom from disease or weakness (Maulina et al., 2024). According to WHO, (2022) Mental health is a state of mental well-being that allows a person to overcome the stresses of life, realize their abilities, contribute to their community, learn and work well. Someone who looks physically healthy does not mean they are mentally healthy. In general, mental health is a person's ability to process stress so that they function normally in carrying out their life to avoid symptoms of mental disorders. According to Sarmini, (2023) with a healthy mentality a person can carry out activities as a living creature, so it is said that mental health has an important role in a person's life.
