Abstract

The aim of this research is to improve students' ability to write inspirational stories using comic strip media. This Classroom Action Research was carried out in two cycles, with data collection, observation, tests and documentation. The research object was 30 students in class IXA of SMP N 1 Alasa Talumuzoi, consisting of 14 men and 16 women. The results of the research show that the use of comic strip media can improve students' inspirational story text writing skills in cycle 1 with an average of 56.7% and cycle 2 with an average of 96.67%. The researcher concluded that: the use of comic strip media in planning and implementing learning carried out by researchers in teaching material on writing inspirational story texts can improve the skills of writing inspirational story texts in class IX A students of SMP Negeri 1 Alasa Talumuzoi

Abstract

Background. The effectiveness of oral corrective feedback (OCF) in language learning is influenced by learners’ comprehension and response to various OCF techniques. Therefore, it is essential for teachers to consider learners’ preferences for OCF strategies. Purpose. this study aims to investigate the use of ARIAS Model on speech learning. This research will explore the effectiveness of this approach in helping learners overcome challenges in public speaking and improve their speaking skills with more confidence and conviction. Method. This research used a qualitative method with a descriptive approach. Data collection techniques included interviews, observations, and questionnaires filled out by 21 students. Results. The results showed that the use of the ARIAS model significantly improved students’ clarity (85%), intonation (80%), and expression (90%) in speech. In addition, 95% of students gave positive responses to the ARIAS model, indicating its acceptance and effectiveness in speech learning. Conclusion. This study concludes that the ARIAS model is a comprehensive and effective approach to develop public speaking skills, help students overcome psychological barriers, and improve their speech skills with more confidence and convincing. However, technical challenges such as technological infrastructure must be overcome to ensure optimal implementation. The findings support the importance of integrating the ARIAS model in the Indonesian language learning curriculum to improve students’ communication skills.

Abstract

Background. Education is the main pillar in the development of a country, where the quality of education plays a crucial role in forming the next generation of high quality and competitiveness. Student learning motivation in Junior High School is a very important factor in achieving this goal. Purpose. This research aims to investigate the influence of the school environment on students” learning motivation at State Junior High School 1 Alasa Talumuzoi. Method. The research method used is qualitative with a descriptive approach. Data was collected through questionnaires, interviews and direct observation of 20 students in class VIII-A.  Results. The results of the questionnaire data analysis show that the influence of the school environment on student learning motivation is in the medium category, with a score percentage of 49.55%. A clean, beautiful, safe and comfortable school environment makes a positive contribution in increasing students” learning motivation by creating an atmosphere that is conducive to learning. Positive interactions between students, teachers and school staff also play an important role in creating a pleasant learning climate. Conclusion. This research provides a deeper understanding of how the school environment at State Junior High School 1 Alasa Talumuzoi plays a role in shaping student learning motivation. The implication of this research is that efforts are needed to optimize the school environment in order to improve the quality of learning and overall student academic achievement.
