Abstract

This study aims to evaluate the effectiveness of audio-visual learning media on Biology learning in junior high school. The method used is literature study by analyzing articles, books, and relevant literature sources. The data sources that will be used in this study are scientific articles, books, journals, research reports, and other literature sources that are relevant and related to the use of audio-visual learning media in biology learning. The data analysis method used in this study is literature analysis or systematic literature review. The results of the study show that the use of audio-visual learning media significantly improves students' understanding in learning Biology. This medium helps students better visualize complex biological concepts, such as fertilization and embryonic development. In addition, audio-visual learning media also increases student involvement in the learning process, making it more interactive. However, there are several challenges in the use of audio-visual learning media, such as limited access to technology in some schools and high multimedia content development costs. Therefore, it is recommended that schools improve their technological infrastructure and train teachers in the effective use of this medium. The implication of this study is that audio-visual learning media can be used effectively to improve students' understanding of complex biology materials

Abstract

Modern biotechnology, particularly genetic engineering, has been widely utilised in agriculture to improve the productivity and quality of food crops, including rice. This study aims to analyse the use of genetic engineering biotechnology in rice crops and its contribution to increasing agricultural yields and food security. The research method used was a literature study, reviewing various scientific journal articles discussing the application of genetically engineered rice. The results of the study show that genetic engineering in rice plants can increase resistance to pests and diseases, tolerance to extreme environmental conditions, and higher yields. However, its application still faces a number of challenges, including food safety issues, potential environmental impacts, and public acceptance. Thus, the use of genetic engineering biotechnology in rice plants has great potential in supporting sustainable agriculture, but it needs to be accompanied by clear regulations, strict supervision, and continuous socialisation to the public.

Abstract

This study was motivated by observations conducted during the Integrated Field Experience Program at SMP Negeri 3 Gunungsitoli Utara, which revealed limited availability of textbooks, unengaging and unmotivating LKPD, and low student participation, resulting in learning outcomes below the minimum competency criteria in science subjects. This research employed a development approach using the ADDIE model (analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation) to assess the feasibility, practicality, and effectiveness of a Problem-Based Learning-based LKPD on the human movement system topic for eighth-grade students. The results indicated that the LKPD achieved a very high level of feasibility based on evaluations by subject matter experts (100%), teachers (98%), language experts (100%), and design experts (100%). The practicality of the LKPD, based on individual, small group, and field trials, reached 85%, categorized as very practical. Its effectiveness was demonstrated by a student learning mastery level of 87%, classified as very high. Therefore, the developed LKPD is considered feasible, practical, and effective for use in science learning.
