Abstract

The purpose of this study was to determine the effectiveness of the integrated project based learning (PjBL) model of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in improving students' reading skills. This research method is a quantitative research method. In this study, a survey of survey materials was conducted and analyzed with instrument tests, pretests, and hypothesis tests. This study involved two groups, namely the experimental group and the control group using the STEM integrated PJBL model. The results showed that the application of this learning model showed significant results in improving students' scientific literacy. The test used quantitative research methods, namely. instrumental analysis test, hypothesis test and N-Gain test, so that the information obtained can be trusted in answering research questions. The results of the analysis showed that students who took part in project-based learning with a STEM approach had better understanding, and scientific literacy compared to traditional learning.

Abstract

Rendahnya minat baca menjadi tantangan serius dalam pembelajaran, terutama berdasarkan hasil PISA 2022 yang menempatkan skor literasi Indonesia turun ke 359 poin. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengembangkan, menguji kelayakan, kepraktisan, dan efektivitas media Macromedia Flash (MeF) untuk meningkatkan minat baca siswa kelas V SD. Metode yang digunakan adalah Research and Development (R&D) dengan model ADDIE. Penelitian ini melibatkan 12 orang peserta didik kelas V SD yang terdiri atas 7 peserta didik laki-laki dan 5 peserta didik perempuan, serta dilaksanakan di UPTD SDN 076059 Lololawa yang berlokasi di Desa Lololawa, Kecamatan Gunungsitoli Alo'oa, Provinsi Sumatera Utara. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan kelayakan media: ahli materi 93% (sangat valid), ahli bahasa 84% (sangat valid), ahli desain 88% (sangat valid). Tingkat kepraktisan mencapai 97%, efektivitas 92%, serta terjadi peningkatan minat baca yang signifikan dari skor pretest 44,25 menjadi 84,83 pada posttest (peningkatan 91,71%) dengan ketuntasan klasikal 92%. Hal ini semakin mengukuhkan bahwa media MeF tidak hanya praktis dalam penggunaannya, tetapi juga sangat efektif dalam mengubah minat baca siswa dari sikap pasif menjadi lebih aktif, menjadikan media ini sebagai sarana pengajaran yang sangat layak direkomendasikan untuk konteks sekolah dasar.
