Abstract

The journal "The Role of vulnerable Communities in Building Post-Flood Resilience" explores the complex interactions between indigenous residents who live outside Mangli housing complexes, and housing residents in the Mangli area, the majority of whom are immigrants. Apart from that, this journal also examines the role of communities in building resilience after floods caused by the conversion of agricultural land. This research examines how indigenous people, as a social group, are vulnerable to the risk of flooding due to the impact of converting agricultural land into housing on the indigenous Mangli population. and how vulnerable populations attempt to adapt in modern society which is filled with various social, economic and cultural changes. By focusing on the dynamics of conflict that arise throughout the lives of residents, this journal also analyzes the adaptation strategies used by vulnerable residents in responding to flood and post-flood disasters.

Abstract

Tunjungrejo Village is a clear example of how religious and cultural symbols can become the collective identity and existence of a community. This article describes how symbols such as the cross, coconut shoots, rice, cotton and mountains are not only the dominant manifestation of Christianity in the village, but also display the social dynamics and cultural diversity that exist. These symbols not only illustrate history and religious, economic traditions but also depict the values upheld by society, such as tolerance and interfaith coexistence. Even though there is a Muslim minority in the community, the existence of these symbols reflects an effort to maintain collective identity and existence, while remaining open to interaction and integration with other groups in society. So that it can improve the economic level of village residents through the creative economy. Thus, Tunjungrejo Village is an interesting location to research in understanding the complexity of the relationship between cultural symbols, collective identity, and social dynamics in the context of rural communities.

Abstract

This research explores the impact of the development of Captive PLTU infrastructure in Sulawesi on the lives of local communities from a sociological perspective. Using a qualitative approach and case study design, this research explores the social, economic and environmental changes that occurred as a result of development interventions by PT GNI and PT COR. The construction of the Captive PLTU is based on Presidential Regulation No. 112/2022 concerning the Acceleration of Renewable Energy Development for the Supply of Electric Power. Local residents experience a range of negative impacts, including air pollution, pollution and disruption to livelihoods that depend on natural resources. The damming of the Lampi River by the PLTU has also raised concerns about the potential for flooding and decreased air quality. This research found that this development project has taken away the rights of local communities and caused various human rights violations. The results of this research emphasize the need to revise regulations that are more inclusive and fair to ensure sustainable development that takes into account the balance between economic, social and environmental interests. In conclusion, infrastructure development must be carried out with the active involvement of local communities and careful consideration of its impacts.
