Abstract

Tunjungrejo Village is a clear example of how religious and cultural symbols can become the collective identity and existence of a community. This article describes how symbols such as the cross, coconut shoots, rice, cotton and mountains are not only the dominant manifestation of Christianity in the village, but also display the social dynamics and cultural diversity that exist. These symbols not only illustrate history and religious, economic traditions but also depict the values upheld by society, such as tolerance and interfaith coexistence. Even though there is a Muslim minority in the community, the existence of these symbols reflects an effort to maintain collective identity and existence, while remaining open to interaction and integration with other groups in society. So that it can improve the economic level of village residents through the creative economy. Thus, Tunjungrejo Village is an interesting location to research in understanding the complexity of the relationship between cultural symbols, collective identity, and social dynamics in the context of rural communities.

Abstract

This research explores the impact of the development of Captive PLTU infrastructure in Sulawesi on the lives of local communities from a sociological perspective. Using a qualitative approach and case study design, this research explores the social, economic and environmental changes that occurred as a result of development interventions by PT GNI and PT COR. The construction of the Captive PLTU is based on Presidential Regulation No. 112/2022 concerning the Acceleration of Renewable Energy Development for the Supply of Electric Power. Local residents experience a range of negative impacts, including air pollution, pollution and disruption to livelihoods that depend on natural resources. The damming of the Lampi River by the PLTU has also raised concerns about the potential for flooding and decreased air quality. This research found that this development project has taken away the rights of local communities and caused various human rights violations. The results of this research emphasize the need to revise regulations that are more inclusive and fair to ensure sustainable development that takes into account the balance between economic, social and environmental interests. In conclusion, infrastructure development must be carried out with the active involvement of local communities and careful consideration of its impacts.

Abstract

This research explores the dynamics of conflict that occur between workers and factory entrepreneurs in Kedungrejo Village, Muncar District, using the perspective of Karl Marx's conflict icon theory. Fish factories are one of the main economic sectors in this area, and conflicts between fish factory workers and entrepreneurs have a significant impact on the social and economic life of local communities. Karl Marx's conflict theory is used as an analytical framework to understand the root of the problem, the resources being contested, and the role of social class in this conflict. This research includes participatory observation methods, interviews, and document analysis to explore the perspectives of fish factory workers and entrepreneurs. The research results show that the conflict in Kedungrejo Village is related to economic inequality and control of production resources. Workers experience exploitation, low wages and unsafe working conditions, while fish factory entrepreneurs try to maximize their profits. This conflict reflects the conflict between the working class who seek to protect their economic rights and entrepreneurs who prioritize their profits. In the perspective of Karl Marx's conflict theory, this conflict is the result of a structural conflict between the working class (proletariat) and the owners of capital (capitalists). These conflicts reflect fundamental inequalities in the distribution of wealth and power. This research proposes the need for more inclusive and fair solutions in overcoming this conflict, such as collective bargaining, stricter labor regulations, and building awareness of the working class to increase their bargaining power in negotiations with fish factory entrepreneurs. Thus, this research provides insight into the dynamics of conflict between workers and fish factory entrepreneurs in the context of the Kedungrejo Village community, as well as its implications from the perspective of Karl Marx's conflict theory.
