Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership, academic supervision, and school culture on the performance of elementary school teachers in Kangkung District, with work motivation as a mediating variable. The research employed a quantitative approach using regresion, path analysis and the Sobel test to examine both direct and indirect effects. A total of 141 teachers were selected through simple random sampling. The results indicate that academic supervision and school culture have a significant positive effect on both work motivation and teacher performance, directly and through the mediation of work motivation. School culture emerged as the most influential variable on work motivation. Meanwhile, transformational leadership had a significant negative effect on work motivation and no significant effect on teacher performance, either directly or indirectly. Work motivation was proven to be an effective mediator in strengthening the influence of academic supervision and school culture on teacher performance. This study highlights the importance of work motivation and a positive school environment in improving teacher performance.

Abstract

Education plays a strategic role in preparing superior human resources to support the Golden Indonesia Vision 2045. Teachers play a central role as the spearhead of improving the quality of education, with achievement motivation being an important factor influencing their professional quality and performance. Unfortunately, this motivation is still relatively low, as seen from the lack of teacher participation in self-development, learning innovation and professional programs. This study aims to analyze the factors that influence teachers' achievement motivation, both internal (self-efficacy) and external (principal leadership, school organizational climate, and academic supervision). The study was conducted on 268 public junior high school teachers in the ex Kawedanan Candiroto area, Temanggung Regency, Central Java, using a total sampling technique. The variables studied include achievement motivation as the dependent variable; principal leadership, school organizational climate, and academic supervision as independent variables; and self-efficacy as a moderating variable. Data were collected through a closed questionnaire that had been tested for validity and reliability, then analyzed using SEM-PLS through the SmartPLS program. The results of the analysis show that all independent variables have a positive and significant effect on teacher achievement motivation. In addition, self-efficacy acts as a moderator that strengthens the influence of the three external variables. Implication of this finding

Abstract

Teacher performance is a crucial determinant of educational quality; however, empirical evidence indicates that the performance of junior high school teachers, particularly English teachers in Temanggung Regency, has not yet reached an optimal level. This study aims to analyze the effects of work motivation, principal leadership, and emotional intelligence on teacher performance, as well as to examine the moderating role of organizational culture. The study employed a quantitative exploratory design. The population consisted of 149 public and private junior high school English teachers who are members of the Subject Teacher Working Group (MGMP) in Temanggung Regency. Using the Slovin formula, 109 teachers were selected through random sampling. Data were collected using a closed-ended questionnaire and analyzed using Structural Equation Modeling–Partial Least Squares (SEM-PLS) with SmartPLS software. The analysis included descriptive statistics and outer model testing, covering convergent validity, discriminant validity, and construct reliability, all of which met criteria. Inner model testing assessed model fit, multicollinearity, and effect size, indicating that the model was fit and free from problems. The results show that work motivation, principal leadership, and emotional intelligence have a positive and significant effect on teacher performance. Furthermore, organizational culture significantly moderates the relationship between these independent variables and teacher performance, thereby strengthening their influence. In conclusion, improving teacher performance is not solely determined by individual attributes and leadership quality, but is also influenced by the strength of school organizational culture. Therefore, fostering a collaborative and supportive organizational culture is an essential strategy for enhancing teacher performance in schools.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of transformational leadership, organizational culture, and achievement motivation on teacher performance through self-efficacy as a mediating variable among public elementary school teachers in Temanggung District. The research background is based on the 2024 Temanggung Education Report, which indicates a decline in numeracy skills and learning quality, with overall learning quality categorized as moderate. A quantitative approach was employed using path analysis with SPSS version 22, involving 185 public elementary school teachers in Temanggung Regency as the research respondents. The results show that transformational leadership, organizational culture, achievement motivation, and self-efficacy have a significant effect on teacher performance. Achievement motivation was found to have the strongest influence on self-efficacy. Furthermore, the mediation analysis indicates that self-efficacy mediates the relationship between achievement motivation and teacher performance, but does not mediate the effects of transformational leadership or organizational culture. These findings emphasize that internal factors such as motivation and self-efficacy, as well as external factors such as leadership and organizational culture, play a crucial role in enhancing the professionalism and performance of public elementary school teachers in Temanggung District.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of work motivation in mediating the influence of leadership style, work climate, and infrastructure on the performance of public elementary school teachers in Sirampog Regency. This study was conducted using a quantitative method, and data collection was carried out using valid and reliable research instruments. The population in this study consisted of public elementary school teachers, with a sample selected using the Slovin formula. Data analysis was conducted using multiple linear regression, mediation testing with the Sobel test, and path analysis. The results of the study indicate that work motivation as a mediating variable is able to mediate the influence of leadership style and work climate on teacher performance, as evidenced by significant results and calculated Z values exceeding the critical Z value. On the other hand, work motivation does not have a positive and significant mediating effect on the relationship between infrastructure and teacher performance, as indicated by non-significant results and calculated Z values below the critical threshold. Overall, the findings show that improving work motivation, leadership style, and a supportive work climate has a significant influence on enhancing teacher performance.

Abstract

This study aims to analyze the influence of principal leadership, teacher competence, school culture, and work discipline on the performance of Islamic Education (PAI) teachers at Junior High Schools (SMP) in Temanggung Regency. The background of this research is based on the low achievement of teacher performance indicators, specifically in developing teaching modules and elaborating learning outcomes in the field, as well as the low education report card scores in the region. This research employs a quantitative approach with a hypothesis testing study design. The research population consists of all Junior High School PAI teachers in Temanggung Regency registered in the SIAGA account, with a sample size of 87 respondents determined using the Slovin formula. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and questionnaires, and subsequently analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistical techniques assisted by SPSS software. The results indicate that, simultaneously, principal leadership, teacher competence, school culture, and work discipline have a significant influence on teacher performance, with an Adjusted R Square value of 84.6%. Partially, the hypothesis testing shows that: (1) Principal leadership has no significant influence on teacher performance (Sig. 0.913 > 0.05); (2) Teacher competence has a significant influence on teacher performance (Sig. 0.002 < 0.05); (3) School culture has a significant influence on teacher performance (Sig. 0.003 < 0.05); and (4) Work discipline has a significant influence on teacher performance (Sig. 0.025). These findings emphasize that internal teacher factors (competence and discipline) and the work environment (school culture) play a more dominant role in determining the performance of PAI teachers compared to the direct managerial role of the principal in this specific context.
