Abstract

This study aimed to assess the demographic profile of participants in terms of weight, height, body mass index (BMI), waist circumference (WC), and nutritional status by BMI and WC. Study design/methodology/approach: The study involved collecting data from a sample of participants regarding their weight, height, BMI, WC, and nutritional status. Mean and standard deviation (SD) values were calculated for each variable. Findings: The mean weight of the participants was 78.1 kg (SD = 13.8), with a mean height of 158.4 cm (SD = 4.6). The average BMI was 31.2 kg/m2 (SD = 5.7), while the mean WC was 94.5 cm (SD = 16.8). In terms of nutritional status by BMI, 0.6% of participants were classified as underweight, 15.8% fell within the normal range, 23.1% were overweight, and 60.4% were obese. Among the obese participants, 59.2% were classified as obese class 1, 33.5% as obese class 2, and 7.3% as obese class 3. Regarding obesity co-morbidity risk by WC, 62 participants had a normal WC, 58 were at risk level 1 (WC > 80cm), and 196 were at risk level 2 (WC > 88cm). Originality/value: This study provides valuable insights into the demographic profile of participants, including weight, height, BMI, WC, and nutritional status. The findings highlight the prevalence of obesity and its associated co-morbidity risk, which can contribute to the development of targeted interventions and prevention strategies.

Abstract

Family-based and genome-wide studies suggest that genetic differences significantly influence an individual’s lifetime risk for kidney disease. Aimed to: find out if there are relationship between kidney failure disease and family genetic history. Material and Methods: Data were collected using interviewer-administered questionnaires. Data from the biochemical analysis and questionnaire with a Google form survey were recorded in Microsoft Excel. Results: The percentage of Gender for hemodialysis patients males 61(57.6%) more than females 45(42.5%), the correlation between age and other variables is quite weak (R = 0.098, P = 0.315). Gender also shows a weak correlation with other variables (R = 0.049, P = 0.616). There is a significant correlation between having a family member with a parathyroid gland issue and other factors (R = 0.248, P < 0.010). The strongest correlation found is between having a family member who suffers or has suffered from kidney failure and other factors (R = 0.277, P = 0.004). Conclusion:  The weak correlations with age and gender indicate that these factors might not be central to the study's main findings. The strongest correlation found is between having a family member who suffers or has suffered from kidney failure and other factors.

Abstract

D-dimer is a biomarker of thrombosis considered to predict poor outcomes in patients with various diseases. This study aimed to find out the relationship between levels of D dimer in different diseases. 556 blood sample analyses for D dimer Patients' were collected from private laboratories, isolation, and health care centres in the Derna, Al- Gubba City, and its surrounding areas, Plasma separation from the tube containing sodium citrate, Preparation of I-Chroma D-Dimer Quantitative kits reagent. The Frequency and Percent of the Gender were 278 (50%) for males, 278 (50%) for females and for Chronic Diseases, the highest percent for Pneumonia was 121 (21.8%), followed by Blood Pressure at 77 (13.8 %). Diabetes Miletus 51 (9.2%), and for other diseases 71 (12.8%), the type of infection, the highest percent for Viral Infection was 498 (89.6%), followed by Surgery 23 (4.1%), Deep Vein Thrombosis 18 (3.2%), and for Respiratory Diseases 17 (3.1%), the level of D dimer which the highest percent for Moderate 247 (44.4%), followed by High 149 (26.8%). The result of D dimer was Normal 109 (19.6%), and the very high result of 51 (9.2%), the relationship between D dimer result and chronic disease was the highest for blood pressure followed by pneumonia, diabetes Miletus, Anemia, kidney disease, and Heart disease, The correlation between D dimer for age and chronic diseases, p-value < & = 0.05, and there is not a significant relationship between D dimer and type of infection and gender p-value < 0.05. We concluded that the obtained results prove that among obtained results, there is a strong relationship between age and chronic diseases, an increase in the level of D-dimer, level in the blood is not an indication of a specific disease, but rather a signal and alert for several diseases, many diseases

Abstract

Endometriosis is a long-lasting state in which endometrial-like tissue is found outside the uterus often on the reproductive organs, bowel, and bladder. Aimed to: To find out the extent to which Libyan women know about endometriosis. Martial & Methods: During the one-year study period [2021 to 2022], answer the questions of questionnaire and interview. Result: Most of the ages were between (16 - 25 Years) 1353(73.5 %), most Education Levels (University) 1357(73.8 %), and Marital Situation the most were (Single) 1467(79.7 %). frequency and percent of Knowledge Questions Most of the answers were “I don’t know” and the answer was “No.” This indicates a lack of information about endometriosis, who suffer from endometrioses were the highest percent 75.5 %, I Don`t know 21.2 %. Percent of education the answer I don`t know 19.4 %, and by no 26.1 %. The Correlations between Knowledge and Education Levels, the p-value > 0.05 means there is no relationship between education level and knowledge of endometriosis. Conclusion: that the educational level has nothing to do with the extent of awareness among women about endometriosis, and therefore we find that the percentage of those suffering from endometriosis is very high, and that women need a lot of awareness and knowledge about the endometriosis disease.

Abstract

This research aims to know society's awareness of the role of radiation in the early detection of breast cancer. The questionnaire was compiled by Google Form the English-language version of the questionnaire. The first set included 3 (sex, age, education,). Followed by a set of 11 questions regarding knowledge. Result: Age Groups: The participants' ages ranged from 15 to 75, with the majority (20.9%) in the 36-40 years category. Most respondents were female (78.2%), with males representing 21.8% of the sample. Highest Representation: University graduates (43.2%) formed the largest educational group. Others: Master's holders (11.8%) and individuals from high institutes (15.9%) also had significant representation. Breast Cancer Screening Awareness: 72.3% of respondents were aware of the importance of breast cancer screening. Visits for Screening: Only 14.5% of participants reported visiting a clinic for breast cancer screening, while 83.2% had not. Awareness of Radiation Usage: Nearly half (47.7%) were aware that radiation is used in early breast cancer detection, and 38.6% knew it could also be used for treatment. Knowledge of Dosage Risks: 46.8% recognized that high radiation doses could increase cancer risk. Preferred Methods for Breast Cancer Detection: Best Method: The most commonly preferred option for breast cancer detection was “All the above” (31.4%), encompassing clinical examination, self-inspection, radiation inspection, and medical analysis. The findings indicate a widespread awareness of breast cancer screening; however, they also reveal significant gaps in participation rates and a limited understanding of the associated risks and benefits of radiation.
