Abstract

The development of science and technology in Indonesia continues to grow. Competition is increasingly fierce and society is required to be able to compete in facing challenges in the era of globalization. The international world will recognize the nation's progress if the majority of society is able to master, utilize and develop science and technology.This article discusses the development of science. One strategy that can be used to build science is to increase scientific literacy. Scientific literacy is not only knowledge and understanding of scientific concepts and processes, but is also directed at how a person can make decisions and participate in social life, culture and economic growth

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengevaluasi kualitas pendidikan di Kabupaten Kepulauan Yapen, Papua, dengan fokus pada aspek aksesibilitas, kompetensi tenaga pendidik, sarana dan prasarana, serta hasil belajar siswa. Kabupaten Kepulauan Yapen merupakan salah satu wilayah di Papua yang menghadapi tantangan geografis dan sosial-ekonomi dalam pengelolaan pendidikan. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode campuran (mixed methods) dengan pendekatan kuantitatif melalui analisis data pendidikan daerah dan pendekatan kualitatif melalui wawancara mendalam dengan pemangku kepentingan pendidikan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa meskipun terdapat peningkatan dalam hal akses pendidikan, masih terdapat kesenjangan dalam kualitas tenaga pendidik dan ketersediaan fasilitas pendidikan yang memadai. Artikel ini memberikan rekomendasi strategis untuk meningkatkan kualitas pendidikan di Kabupaten Kepulauan Yapen dengan fokus pada pengembangan kapasitas guru, perbaikan infrastruktur, dan penguatan kebijakan pendidikan berbasis lokal.

Abstract

Penelitian ini menggunakan metode studi literatur. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji permasalahan bullying dari beberapa sudut pandang. Penelitian ini juga menghadirkan alternative jawaban mengenai bagaimana cara menghadapi problematika bullying dari sisi orang tua, pendidik, maupun anak usia sekolah yang terkait dengan permasalahan bullying. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data dan pembahasan, diperoleh beberapa kesimpulan, yaitu: Bullying adalah tindakan yang tidak bermoral, bullying muncul karena kurangnya rasa empati dan simpati seseorang. Hasil rangkuman studi literatur menunjukkan bahwa pengaruh intensitas teman sebaya di sekolah membuat para korban bullying justru mendapatkan perlakuan kekerasan baik verbal maupun non verbal. Intesitas teman sebaya mempengaruhi tindakan bullying lebih tinggi. Dengan demikian, bahaya tindakan bullying pada tatanan pendidikan dan teman sebaya perlu dihentikan dan diberi pemahaman agar perilaku bullying tidak menjadi budaya di pendidikan sekolah Indonesia.

Abstract

This study aims to examine literacy development in remote primary schools in Serui, Papua, by analyzing the interaction between structural constraints, pedagogical practices, and community engagement. Unlike previous studies that tend to isolate these factors, this research positions literacy as both a cognitive skill and a sociocultural practice, highlighting the need for an integrated analytical framework in multilingual and geographically isolated contexts. This study employed a convergent mixed-method multiple-case study design, in which qualitative and quantitative data were collected concurrently and integrated during analysis. The study involved six primary schools, 12 teachers, 6 principals, 48 students, and 24 parents selected through purposive sampling based on their active involvement in literacy practices. Data were obtained through classroom observations, semi-structured interviews, document analysis, and Oral Reading Fluency (ORF) assessments. Qualitative data were analyzed thematically, while quantitative data were analyzed descriptively, followed by data triangulation to ensure validity. The findings indicate that literacy outcomes are shaped by the interplay of structural limitations, multilingual instructional challenges, and community participation. Schools implementing culturally responsive pedagogy and community-based literacy programs showed higher reading performance (mean 66 WPM vs. 57 WPM). The integration of mother-tongue scaffolding and local storytelling significantly enhanced student engagement and comprehension. Based on these findings, this study proposes the Community-Integrated Literacy Framework (CILF) as a context-sensitive model for improving literacy in remote and multilingual settings.
