Abstract

ABSTRAK World Health Organization (WHO) tahun 2018 menyatakan bahwa prevalensi penderita Chonic Kidney Disease (CKD) sekitar 1/10 penduduk dunia dengan angka kematian pasien setiap tahunnya diperkirakan 5-10 juta. ABSTRACT The World Health Organization (WHO) in 2018 stated that the prevalence of Chonic Kidney Disease (CKD) sufferers is around 1/10 of the world's population with an estimated patient mortality rate of 5-10 million each year. The prevalence of chronic kidney failure in Indonesia according to the Ministry of Health (2019) is estimated at 2 per 1000 population or 499,800 Indonesian population. Less than half of the prevalence of people with chronic kidney failure who have awareness in carrying out treatment such as hemodialysis therapy. Initial screening conducted by researchers in the Hemodialysis Room of RSPTN Hasanuddin University showed that 6 out of 10 patients experienced psychosocial disorders in the form of anxiety. The solution offered to reduce anxiety problems is by providing counseling, demonstrating / practicing the stages and steps of SEFT therapy, and evaluating the level of anxiety that patients have after SEFT therapy. This counseling activity aimed to provide information and increase the knowledge of patients undergoing hemodialysis therapy in the Hemodialysis Room of RSPTN Hasanuddin University regarding how to handle anxiety by applying The Spiritual Therapy Emotional Freedom Technique (SEFT) therapy. This activity was held on June 16, 2023 with 10 respondents participating in counseling. The results achieved from this counseling activity were that the majority of patients feel relaxed and their anxiety is reduced.

Abstract

The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of laughter therapy in reducing anxiety levels among individuals undergoing hemodialysis. This study employs a quasi-experimental design with a quantitative approach, utilizing a non-equivalent group design comprising an intervention group that receives laughter therapy and a control group that receives regular education from hemodialysis nurses. The results demonstrated that following a four-week intervention period, there was a notable reduction in anxiety levels among the intervention group, with a p-value of 0.04. However, the laughter therapy intervention group exhibited a more pronounced decline in anxiety levels, with a p-value of 0.00. In conclusion, it can be recommended that laughter therapy interventions be applied in the implementation of nursing care in the hemodialysis unit to reduce anxiety levels, thereby improving the quality of life of hemodialysis patients.
