Abstract

The world's energy sources have undergone several changes, from initially the majority used biomass to fossils which were triggered by the industrial revolution in the 1900s. The higher use of fossil energy causes an increase in greenhouse gas emissions. One alternative that can be done is the use of solar power plants. An example of its use is in fulfilling electrical energy as lighting with the use of electrical energy which still uses small power. Makassar Aviation Polytechnic together with Airnav Indonesia, collaborates in terms of utilizing solar-based renewable energy implemented in Mapanget Village, North Sulawesi. As for some points in this location, there is still minimal lighting so that it is prone to accidents and crime. The method used in this community service activity is the provision of knowledge about solar cells, solar cell wiring diagrams, and how to check and repair solar-based public street lighting. The results obtained from this community service are that people understand, can install and repair solar cell-based public street lighting. In conclusion, the existence of public street lighting on some roads in Mapanget Village can reduce the accident rate and provide a sense of security for the community when crossing the road

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to achieve harmonization of Course Learning Outcomes (CPMK) through standardization of teaching materials at UPT PPSDMPU in the Air Navigation Technology Study Program, and improve the competence of cadets with teaching material books. The method used is the S. Thiagrajan development model modified from 4-D to 3-D, with a focus on the Development stage (Develop) to produce learning modules that are valid and ready to be implemented, as well as for time and cost efficiency. The results showed that the learning module developed was declared valid by expert validators, met the criteria of very practical based on student responses, and proved effective through pre-test and post-test tests, so it is feasible to use in the learning process to support the quality of education.

Abstract

Purpose – The purpose of this study is to develop a Virtual Reality-based Approach Lighting System (ALS) prototype as a practicum medium for the Visual Landing Aid course in the Airport Technology Study Program at Makassar Aviation Polytechnic. This initiative aims to address the limited accessibility of ALS equipment at Sultan Hasanuddin International Airport, where the system is active and located in the restricted airside area, thereby constraining direct practicum opportunities.Methodology – The research employed a Research and Development (R&D) approach utilizing the ADDIE model consisting of five stages: (1) Analysis to identify practicum challenges, (2) Design of ALS lamp models and surrounding environment, (3) Development of the prototype using Virtual Reality applications, (4) Implementation through practicum activities, and (5) Evaluation to assess the system’s functionality and effectiveness in enhancing cadets’ learning outcomes.Findings – The study successfully produced a Virtual Reality-based Approach Lighting System Prototype that replicates the real equipment and environment. The evaluation stage demonstrated positive responses from cadets regarding the system’s effectiveness in supporting the Visual Landing Aid course. Specifically, 41.7% strongly agreed, 37.5% agreed, and 20.8% moderately agreed that the VR application improved their understanding and ability to visualize ALS concepts in a realistic context.Contribution – This research contributes to aviation education by providing a safe, innovative, and accessible practicum medium that eliminates the dependency on restricted airport environments. The VR-based ALS prototype enhances cadets’ knowledge, technical competence, and practical understanding of visual landing aids. Furthermore, the study supports the integration of Virtual Reality technology as a modern pedagogical tool in aviation training, aligning with global trends in simulation-based education.
