Abstract

Cucumber (Cucumis sativus L.) of the pumpkin tribe or Cucurbitaceae is a plant that produces edible fruit. The fruit is usually harvested when it is not fully ripe to be used as a vegetable or refreshment, depending on the type. One way to add nutrients to the soil is by applying chicken manure. According to Haryanto (2016) in Rumondang et al., (2020) also explained that the use of organic fertilizers is an action to improve the environment for plant plants that can improve the quality of land in a sustainable manner and organic fertilizers are also very beneficial for increasing agricultural production both in quality and quantity. This research was conducted on the experimental garden plot of the Faculty of Agriculture, Indonesian Community Development University UPMI Medan, on Jl. Market Village Hall 12 Marindal II, Patumbak District, Deli Serdang Regency, North Sumatra Province. At an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. With the time of research in May-July 2023. The research was carried out in a factorial manner with the basic pattern of a randomized block design (RBD) consisting of two factors. Factor I: Dosage of chicken manure (A), namely: A0 = Control, A1 = 1 Kg/Plot, A2 = 2 Kg/Plot. Factor II: Dosage of liquid organic fertilizer orrin (O), namely: O1 = Control, O2 = 5 ml/l/plant, O3 = 10 ml/l/plant. The results showed that the single effect of giving chicken manure at level A2 (2 kg/plot) had an effect on increasing the growth of plant length, (at the age of 4 weeks), number of leaves (at the ages of 2 weeks, 3 weeks and 4 weeks), number of fruits and weight. fruit. The interaction effect of giving chicken coop and Orrin liquid organic fertilizer had no effect on plant length, number of leaves, number of fruits and fruit weight. Abstract

Covering of Mucuna bracteate L. cuttings plays an important role in the survival rate of Mucuna Bracteata plants, as it helps maintain optimal humidity and temperature levels. The adjustment process after the cover is opened is very important before moving the cuttings to open land. This study aims to measure the impact of covering on the survival rate of cuttings. This study used a Randomized Block Design (RAK). The treatments used were Covered (P1) and Uncovered (P2), by applying Topsoil 3kg (K0), Topsoil 1.5kg + Sand 1.5kg (K1), Topsoil 1.5kg + Black Soil 1.5kg (K2), Topsoil 1.5kg + Cow Manure 1.5kg (K3). This research was conducted from August 10 to September 9, 2024. This research was conducted in the Yard of a House in Ngaraja 1 Village, Dolok Merawan District, Serdang Bedagai Regency. Based on the Least Significant Difference (LSD) Test, Covering and Topsoil (P1K0) consistently showed the best results in terms of number of shoots, tendril length, number of leaves and Root Length. This indicates that covering and topsoil provide optimal conditions for the early growth of Mucuna plants. Topsoil and sand (P1K1) showed the highest root volume. This suggests that the addition of sand to the topsoil may have increased aeration and water drainage, thus encouraging root development. Keywords: covering, vegetative growth, Mucuna bracteata L.

Abstract

This study aims to examine the effect of NPK fertilizer and liquid organic fertilizer (POC) application on the growth and production of tomato plants (Solanum Lycopersicum L.). The formulation of the problem raised includes how the application of NPK, POC, and the interaction of both affect plant height, flowering age, number of fruits, fruit weight per sample, and fruit weight per plot. The proposed hypothesis is that the application of NPK, POC, and the interaction of both have a significant effect on tomato growth and production parameters. The study was conducted using a Randomized Block Design (RAK) with two factors, namely the dose of NPK fertilizer (0, 10, 20, and 30 grams per plant) and the dose of POC (0, 200, 400, and 600 ml/L of water). The experiment was carried out in the experimental field of the Faculty of Agriculture, Indonesian Community Development University, Medan, at an altitude of 500 meters above sea level, starting from May 2024 until finished. The parameters observed included plant height, flowering age, number of fruits per sample, fruit weight per sample, and fruit weight per plot. The results showed that the provision of NPK and POC, either singly or in interaction, did not have a significant effect on all observed tomato growth and production parameters. This conclusion indicates that the fertilizer treatment used in this study has not been able to significantly increase the growth and yield of tomato plants. Suggestions for further research are to test higher dose variations and extend the research period to explore the clearer effects of fertilizers. Keywords: tomatoes, NPK, liquid organic fertilizer
