Abstract

This research examines the effectiveness of education and training programs for Microtrans public transportation crews in DKI Jakarta, focusing on improving operational efficiency and service quality. Through a mixed-methods approach combining qualitative interviews and surveys, key challenges were identified across six critical indicators: punctuality of training sessions, achievement of training targets, implementation of training outcomes, utilization of training benefits, post-training work performance, and behavioral changes. Findings reveal significant gaps, including delays in training sessions, missed training targets, and difficulties in applying acquired skills on the job. Recommendations include enhancing scheduling systems, aligning curricula with operational needs, and integrating practical training methods to bridge these gaps. Furthermore, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional development among crews is essential to sustain improvements over time. By addressing these challenges, stakeholders can enhance crew competency, service reliability, and overall public transportation quality in DKI Jakarta

Abstract

This research investigates the impact of self-confidence and diction on speaking skills among state junior high school students in Kepulauan Seribu, Jakarta. Utilizing a sample of 86 students from SMPN 133 Pulau Pramuka, SMPN 241 Pulau Tidung, and SMPN 260 Pulau Untung Jawa, the study employed dialogue assessments, questionnaires, and diction tests. The results demonstrate a significant influence of both self-confidence and diction on speaking proficiency. Specifically, self-confidence accounts for 11.54% of the variance in speaking skills, while diction contributes 18.59%. The combined effect of these factors explains 30.1% of the variance in students' speaking abilities. The findings highlight that students with higher self-confidence and better diction exhibit improved speaking skills. These results suggest that educational strategies aimed at enhancing self-confidence and diction can effectively improve students' communication skills. The study underscores the importance of integrating self-confidence and diction development into language education to enhance overall speaking proficiency

Abstract

This research investigates how organizational culture influences cadets' perceptions of empowerment training and shapes their leadership styles within the transportation management sector in Jakarta. Through qualitative interviews and quantitative surveys with cadets from diverse work environments—collaborative and hierarchical—the study explores the differential impacts of organizational culture on leadership development. Findings reveal that cadets in collaborative environments perceive empowerment training more positively, citing benefits such as teamwork, decision-making autonomy, and mentorship. These cadets tend to exhibit transformational leadership styles characterised by motivation, adaptability, and team empowerment. In contrast, cadets in hierarchical environments often adopt transactional leadership styles focused on task compliance and adherence to hierarchical structures. The study highlights the importance of tailored training programmes that accommodate diverse leadership styles and cultural contexts within transportation management education. Recommendations include integrating soft skills development, establishing mentorship programmes, and implementing continuous feedback mechanisms to enhance training effectiveness. By addressing these dynamics, educational institutions can better prepare cadets for leadership roles in dynamic professional environments, contributing to sectoral advancement and sustainability.

Abstract

This research explores the challenges faced by maritime vocational lecturers who are simultaneously pursuing doctoral studies while teaching. The study examines how these lecturers integrate sustainability principles, such as green shipping and port decarbonization, into their curricula, despite the pressures of their dual roles. A qualitative research design was employed, utilizing in-depth interviews with lecturers at maritime vocational schools. The study found that institutional support, time management, and faculty collaboration were crucial in enabling lecturers to effectively balance their teaching and research duties. The research also highlights the importance of flexibility within institutions to support lecturers in integrating sustainability into their teaching practices. The findings suggest that while balancing dual responsibilities is challenging, it is possible to successfully integrate sustainability into vocational pedagogy with appropriate support systems. This study contributes valuable insights for institutions seeking to enhance the integration of sustainability into maritime education and provides a framework for supporting lecturers in their dual roles. The research emphasizes the need for creating a supportive academic environment that fosters the effective integration of sustainability into vocational training, ultimately preparing students for the sustainable challenges of the maritime industry.
