Abstract

This research analyzes the total attenuation loss in Fiber to the Home (FTTH) networks with the aim of improving signal quality and network efficiency. The study results indicate that the attenuation values at ODP 122 and ODP 123 pose challenges related to total attenuation loss. The standardization of attenuation is 28dB, while the calculated result shows 19.021dB at ODP 122. The Fiber Optic's output power is 3 dBm with a standard input power of -28dBm. The received power at ODP 122 and ODP 123 is -16.021 dB and -15.972 dB, respectively. Although the error values are acceptable, the study suggests improvements in network design, appropriate component selection, and attenuation management strategies to optimize signal quality. Factors such as cable length, cable type, and connectivity also significantly influence network performance. Keywords: Fiber to The Home, Fiber Optic, Loss

Abstract

The use of digital internet-based services has become a primary need, especially in academic environments such as campuses.Triple Play services, which include internet, IPTV, and VoIP, are increasingly used to support daily activities such as teaching, research, and administration. However, an increase in the number of users or traffic can pose a problem that potentially disrupts service quality. Therefore, this study was conducted to understand how the increase in traffic affects Quality of Service (QoS).The research methodology includes predicting incoming traffic, which involves estimating the number of users, calculating trafficintensity, and determining traffic volume over a day. Network quality testing involves calculating the power link budget. Service quality testing includes measuring throughput, packet loss, delay, and jitter using Ettercap and Wireshark software. The results of the study show that the daily traffic volume is 669,600 Mbit for internet services, 201,600 Mbit for IPTV services, and 787.2 Mbit for VoIP services. The traffic intensity over a day is 18.6 Mbps for internet services, 5.6 Mbps for IPTV, and 0.262 Mbps for VoIP, with peak traffic activity occurring at 12:00 PM, 1:00 PM, and 2:00 PM. The calculated attenuation of 21.65 dB and receiver power of - 17.66 dBm indicate that the network can provide good service quality. An increase in traffic will lead to higher throughput, no packet loss, and a reduction in delay and jitter. High traffic can cause strain on the network capacity, particularly if the capacity is insufficient to handle the volume of traffic. Insufficient network capacity will result in decreased service quality, characterized by reduced throughput and increased packet loss, delay, and jitter. In such conditions, the services that experience significant quality degradation are VoIP and IPTV. Keywords: FTTH, Triple Play, Network Traffic, Quality of Service, Network Quality.

Abstract

Microstrip filter is a type of Radio Frequency (RF) filter that uses a thin electrical conductor separated from the ground plane by using a dielectric called the substrate. Microstrip filters are generally printed on Printed Circuit Boards or PCBs where high-frequency signals are directed from one part of the system to another with high efficiency. There are several types that can be applied to the operation of microstrip filters, one of which is a band pass filter. Band pass filter is a filter that can pass a signal with a certain frequency that is limited by a low cut-off frequency and a high cut-off frequency, and is able to dampen signals that are below the cut-off frequency and above the high cut-off frequency. There are several types of resonator designs that can be used for reference in the manufacture of microstrip filters, such as tapped line input hairpin filters, stub loaded filters, stepped impedance filters, and combline filters. By using the reference form of the tapped line input hairpin, this journal is intended for planning the manufacture of microstrip filters in the application of Telkomsel's 5G technology.
