Abstract

Traditional medicine has been widely used around the world and in Indonesia, but the public knowledge is still limited. As many as 92% of Indonesians stated that they knew about traditional medicine, but limited about jamu. This study aimed to determine the association between the level of education and the level of community knowledge about traditional medicine in RT 05 Karanggayam Bantul village. This study used an observational analytic method with cross sectional approach. The sampling technique used purposive sampling of 75 respondents. Data analysis was carried out on the characteristics of respondents, the level of knowledge and the association between the level of education and the level of knowledge using the Kruskal-wallis test. The results obtained from the level of knowledge about traditional medicine in the good category amounted to 48%, enough by 35%, and less by 17%. The Kruskal-Wallis test results obtained a p value of 0.322. The conclusion of this study is that there is no association between education level and the level of community knowledge about traditional medicine in RT 05 Karanggayam Bantul Village.

Abstract

Background: Diabetes mellitus has become a global health problem. Indonesia has the third highest number of diabetes mellitus cases in the Southeast Asia region, with a prevalence of 11.3%. The high prevalence of diabetes mellitus increases the risk of Adverse Drug Reaction (ADR). Pharmacovigilance studies are important to detect possible adverse drug reaction of antidiabetic drugs.Objective: This study aimed to describe and analyze the adverse drug reaction of using antidiabetic drugs at three pharmacies in Yogyakarta City.Methods: This study used an analytic observational with a cross-sectional study design. Data were collected at three pharmacies in Yogyakarta City from 59 patients with diabetes mellitus who met the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The instrument used was an interview guide that refers to the Naranjo form. Data analysis included the incidence of adverse drug reaction according to patient characteristics, type of therapy, and description of antidiabetic adverse drug reaction based on causality.Results: The results showed that antidiabetic ADRs occurred in 19 patients (32%). The incidence of ADRs was 68% in men and 32% in women. The incidence of adverse drug reaction was most prevalent at the age of 56-65 years (47%). The most common adverse drug reaction of antidiabetic metformin was flatulence, drowsiness, decreased appetite and dyspepsia, diarrhea, weight loss and nausea and vomiting.Conclusion: This study concluded that the most common ADRs of antidiabetics was the probable and possible category (42%). The most common cause of ADRs was metformin (53%).

Abstract

Latar belakang: World Health Organization (WHO) melaporkan sebanyak 10 juta balita di Indonesia mengalami defisiensi vitamin A, dimana pemenuhan vitamin A pada balita di Indonesia tergolong cukup, yaitu 86,3%. Keberhasilan program pemberian vitamin A sangat dipengaruhi oleh pengetahuan ibu mengenai pentingnya zat gizi ini bagi balita. Tujuan : Mengetahui gambaran pengetahuan ibu tentang penggunaan vitamin A pada balita di Dusun Jaten Kelurahan Sendangadi. Metode: Studi ini menggunakan metode observasional deskriptif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Populasi penelitian mencakup seluruh ibu yang memiliki balita di Dusun Jaten, Kelurahan Sendangadi. Pengambilan sampel dilakukan secara jenuh, melibatkan 67 responden. Data dianalisis secara deskriptif berdasarkan usia dan tingkat pengetahuan. Tingkat pengetahuan dikategorikan menjadi baik, cukup, dan kurang. Hasil: Hasil menunjukkan bahwa mayoritas responden (83,6%) berada dalam rentang usia 26-35 tahun. Tingkat pengetahuan ibu tentang penggunaan vitamin A pada balita, ditemukan bahwa 29,9% responden memiliki pengetahuan kategori baik, 25,3% kategori cukup, dan 44,8% kategori kurang.Kesimpulan: Pengetahuan Ibu tentang penggunaan vitamin A pada balita di Dusun Jaten Sendangadi Sleman paling banyak pada kategori kurang.
