Abstract

Abstract: In the Bible Paul proclaimed the truth of the gospel openly to the Romans to confirm the believers' faith in Christ. However, today it seems like a shadow to Christians. The truth of the gospel is not understood because the lives of Christians are often surrounded by a massive spirit of legalism. The research method used is a literature review by emphasizing on literature research that is significant to the research topic. By understanding the gospel as the power of God, salvation is a gift of God and is certain. There is no condition capable of saving someone from the bondage of sin, except God Himself. Therefore, realizing the gospel as the power of God as God's grace given freely, Christians must implement it by believing it firmly because it contains the certainty of salvation. And every believer must actively proclaim it to every human being wherever and whenever. Abstrak: Dalam Alkitab Paulus menyatakan kebenaran Injil secara terang-terangan kepada jemaat di Roma untuk meneguhkan iman orang percaya di dalam Kristus. Akan tetapi, di masa kini hal tersebut tampak seperti bayang-bayang bagi orang Kristen. Kebenaran Injil tidak terpahami sebab kehidupan orang Kristen seringkali dikelilingi dengan spirit legalisme yang masif. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah kajian pustaka dengan menandaskan pada penelitian literatur yang signifikan dengan topik penelitian. Dengan memahami Injil sebagai kekuatan Allah, keselamatan merupakan anugerah Allah dan yang bersifat kepastian. Tidak ada syarat apa pun yang mampu menyelamatkan seseorang dari belenggu dosa, kecuali Allah itu sendiri. Oleh karena itu, menyadari Injil sebagai kekuatan Allah sebagai anugerah Allah yang diberikan dengan cuma-cuma, maka orang Kristen harus mengimplementasikannya dengan mengimaninya secara kokoh sebab di dalamnya terkandung kepastian keselamatan. Setiap umat percaya harus giat memberitakan hal tersebut kepada setiap umat manusia di mana dan kapan pun.

Abstract

Every church denomination has a distinctive feature that colors it. Especially in the AFY Church, Ira Alawe So Halöwö is a striking characteristic because it is not found in other church denominations. Their existence in the AFY church is also recognized based on the decision of the AFY Synod Assembly by stipulating that Ira Alawe So Halöwö always wears a veil (a piece of white cloth) when worshiping and praying. In this paper, the author attempts to explain the phenomenon and its benefits for the AFY church. To explain this phenomenon, the author uses a descriptive qualitative research method that directs the author to explore and present data related to the research topic through interviews and review of related literature. Thus, this research can be concluded that Ira Alawe So Halöwö plays an important role in the ministry of AFY Church as a Prayer Team that must receive guidance for the progress of their ministry.

Abstract

Suhento Liauw has a unique understanding of the doctrine of salvation (soteriology). The uniqueness of his teaching has become widespread through his writings published on social media. In his teaching, Suhento prioritizes soteriology over other doctrinal topics without realizing the correspondence of the doctrines. In addition, Christ’s redemption applies to all people making it possible for all to be saved. In addition, even if someone has responded to the gift of salvation, it is certain that he will lose his salvation. Using the qualitative method of literature, the authors finds Suhento Liauw’s soteriology contradicts the truth of Scripture. By analyzing the biblical revelation, soteriology is one of the doctrinal topics that does not stand alone without other doctrines. In soteriology, God applies the work of Christ to His chosen people and guarantees the salvation of His children through the work of His providence. The grace of salvation not only frees people from sin, but gives the elect the responbility and privilege to share in the work of salvation initiated by God Himself through the preaching of the gospel.

Abstract

Kehidupan setelah kematian merupakan misteri yang tak terpecahkan bagi orang-orang yang belum memahami makna kematian yang sesungguhnya. Isu ini mendorong kita untuk memikirkan tempat jiwa manusia pasca kematian. Atas ketidakmengertian, banyak ritual yang dilakukan keluarga dengan melibatkan pihak rohaniwan untuk membebaskan jiwa almarhum dari dunia orang mati. Fenomena ini telah menjadi ciri khas Gereja AFY, di mana setelah tiga hari almarhum dikuburkan akan dilaksanakan Fananõ Bunga Si Bohou. Keberagaman pemahaman dari para pelayan di Gereja AFY menimbulkan kekeliruan terhadap dogmatika gereja yang berdasarkan pada teologi Lutheran. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, penelitian ini menawarkan sebuah kesimpulan kritik evaluatif demi merekonstruksi makna praktik Fananõ Bunga Si Bohou di kalangan jemaat AFY dengan pertimbangan yang utuh terhadap teologi yang Alkitabiah. Fananõ Bunga Si Bohou harus dipertahankan sebagai ciri khas dengan makna bahwa almarhum sudah berada di tempat yang layak bagi dia menurut imannya dan akan dibangkitkan pada saat Kristus Yesus datang kembali.Life after death is an unsolved mistery for people who do not understand the true meaning of death. This issue encourages us to think about the place of the human soul after death. Out of ignorance, many rituals are performed by families with the involvement of clergy to free the soul of the deceased from the world of the dead. This phenomenon has became a characteristic of the AFY Church, where after three day the deceased is buried, the Fananõ Bunga Si Bohou will be held. The diverse understandings of the ministers in the AFY Church have led to miunderstandings of church dogmatics based on Lutheran theology. Using a descriptive qualitative method, this study offers an evaluative critical conclusion in order to reconstruct the meaning of the practice of Fananõ Bunga Si Bohou among the AFY congregation with full consideration of biblical theology. Fananõ Bunga Si Bohou should be maintained as a distinctive featue with the meaning that the deceased is already in a place worthy of him according to his faith and will be resurrected at the return of Christ Jesus.

Abstract

Abstract. According to the Bible, the purpose of the creation process is a statement about the existence and power of God. However, in Indonesia, there is Buddhism, which has the concept of God not as a creator, but a supreme state that is the purpose of life. As a non-theistic religion, it believes in the concept of the law of karma as a reference for living a life. This difference raises the question of whether the concept of God's predestination as proposed by John Calvin about God's absolute election from the beginning or a free will given by God to humans to respond to the salvation offered by God. The purpose of this study will bring understanding to Christians in evangelizing, preaching salvation to Buddhist groups. The methodology used is qualitative comparative analysis of each teaching. The conclusion is that every human being apparently seeks the ultimate goal of life which in Buddhism is called Nibbana and Christians identify as salvation. Nibbana can be achieved by the efforts of each individual by practicing the eightfold path of purity, and Christians can preach about Christ who gives the Helping Spirit, namely the Holy Spirit who will teach, remind, rebuke and give strength to be able to live life until reaching the final goal. Abstrak. Kedaulatan Allah merupakan topik yang sangat menarik dan telah memuat pro kontra yang tak kunjung berhenti menemukan titik temunya. Posisi kontranya seseorang terkait topik ini dilatarbelakangi dengan pemahaman manusia yang independen di hadapan Allah. Seperti yang diutarakan Suhento Liauw, dengan menjunjung tinggi kedaulatan Allah dan meminimalisir keberadaan manusia yang memiliki kebebasan maka hal itu merendahkan Allah dalam pengertian yang keliru. Bagi Suhento, setiap ajaran yang tidak mengakui kebebasan manusia dalam merespons kedaulatan Penciptanya, maka ajaran tersebut menghujat Allah dan menjadikanNya sebagai sosok yang kejam. Dengan menggunakan metode studi pustaka, kami menemukan bahwa pengajaran Suhento Liauw mengarah pada spirit atheism yang tidak berdasarkan kebenaran Alkitab. Sebaliknya, Alkitab menyatakan Allah yang berdaulat mengatur segala sesuatu yang dilakukan manusia, menentukan destinasi manusia oleh kehendakNya dengan disertai jaminan kekal yang ada di dalamnya. Sehingga, setiap orang yang telah mengenal kedaulatan Allah memperoleh kebahagiaan, ketentraman dan penghiburan yang abadi. Kedaulatan Allah tidak membatasi manusia berkreativitas di hadapanNya, melainkan mendorong manusia (umat pilihan) untuk berkarya bagi Allah demi keagungan dan kemuliaan-Nya.

Abstract

Abstract. One of the tribes in Indonesia that has a diverse culture is the Nias tribe. A culture that is still actively practiced by Nias people is fangotome’õ satua which literally means entertaining parents at certain moments such as parents being seriously ill or approaching death. Fangotome’õ satua is the responsibility of every child to their parents and expresses their respect. Using descriptive qualitative methods, the author found that whether or not this event is held determines the status of children in the eyes of the community. They can get famago mbawa from the surrounding community. Therefore, children try as much as possible to entertain their parents while living in the world or even during fangasi or fame’e gõ zo halõẁõ. The Bible affirms the absoluteness of honoring parents regardless of their time and circumstances. God who is the ultimate goal in the commandment teaches children to submit to divine authority through the presence of parents. Therefore, the Bible transforms the values contained in the fangotome’õ satua event so that every child respects and obeys their parents as long as they are alive in this world without waiting for a special moment. Abstrak. Salah satu suku di Indonesia yang memiliki budaya yang beragam adalah suku Nias. Budaya yang masih aktif dilakukan oleh orang Nias adalah fangotome’õ satua yang harfiahnya berarti menjamu orang tua pada momen tertentu seperti pada saat orang tua sakit keras atau mau mendekati ajalnya. Fangotome’õ satua merupakan tanggung jawab setiap anak kepada orang tuanya dan merupakan ungkapan rasa hormat anak terhadap orang tuanya. Dengan menggunakan metode kualitatif deskriptif, Penulis mendapatkan bahwa terlaksana tidaknya acara ini sangat menentukan status anak-anak di mata masyarakat. Mereka dapat mendapat famago mbawa dari masyarakat sekitar apabila hal ini tidak dilaksanakan. Sebab itu, anak-anak berusaha semaksimal mungkin menjamu orang tua selama hidup di dunia. Apabila tidak sempat menjamu orang tua, maka anak-anak harus melakukan fangasi atau fame’e gõ zohalõẁõ setelah orang tua meninggal sebagai bentuk hormat kepada orang tua. Alkitab mengafirmasi kemutlakan menghormati orang tua tanpa memandang waktu dan keadaan mereka. Allah yang menjadi tujuan utama dalam perintah tersebut mengajarkan anak-anak supaya tunduk pada otoritas ilahi melalui kehadiran orang tua di tengah-tengah keluarga. Oleh sebab itu, Alkitab mentransformasi nilai-nilai yang terkandung dalam acara fangotome’õ satua supaya setiap anak menghormati dan menaati orang tuanya selama mereka masih hidup di dunia ini tanpa menunggu momen-momen yang tertentu.
