Abstract

This research is motivated by the fact that the mineral calcium is needed by the body for functional operations and bone health. Calcium needs for body operations include the formation of red blood cells. If blood cell formation is disrupted, it will cause anemia, which can lead to a calcium deficit that can lead to bone loss or what is known as osteoporosis. One of the plants that contain high calcium is mustard greens. The contents of mustard greens include protein, fat, carbohydrates, calcium, phosphorus, iron (Fe), vitamin A, vitamin B and vitamin C. However, green leafy plants such as mustard greens are thought to cause an increase in uric acid in the blood. In this research, mustard juice will be given as calcium intake to fulfill body operations, namely hematocrit levels and hemoglobin levels and blood uric acid levels. 18 white rats are grouped as follows: Group 1 with 4 mL/200g BW, group II 8 mL/ 200g and group III negative control treatment, each treatment was repeated 6 times, for 15 days. This research was designed using a 3x4 Factorial Completely Randomized Design, analyzed using ANOVA and Duncan's Test. The results obtained were that 8 mL/200G BW mustard juice could increase hemoglobin levels and did not increase uric acid levels.

Abstract

Bryophyte is classified as a plant in which its parts cannot be distinguished (thallus), bryophytes can grow on various substrates, such as on bark (epiphytes), rocks, wood, and can grow on the surface of the soil (terrestrial). One of the locations in West Java that has the potential for moss diversity is the Cibodas Botanical Gardens. One of which is a type of liverwort from the genus Cyathodium. resembles a fan and splits into two Cyathodium has a bright green color, and has a pungent odor. Cyathodium is commonly found around the waterfall area, due to the natural environment, humidity, and abundant water. This study aims to determine the diversity of the genus Cyathodium that grows in the Cibodas Botanical Gardens and to determine the morphological and anatomical characteristics of the genus Cyathodium. This research was conducted from March to May 2022. The research location is in the tourist area of Ciismun Waterfall, Cibogo Waterfall, and in office cliff Cibodas, Cianjur Regenc, West Java. The method used is descriptive research method with a qualitative approach. Identification is done using an identification key. The results of the study found 1 type of liverwort from the genus Cyathodium, namely the type cyathodium foetidissimum Schiffn. Survival, and abundance The diversity of moss species is strongly influenced by appropriate environmental factors, these environmental factors are abiotic factors and biotic factors, while abiotic factors include temperature, humidity, soil pH and altitude, while biotic factors include plants in the area.

Abstract

Dental caries is a localized dental disease that damages the hard tissues of the teeth formed from the accumulation of plaque on the tooth surface.  Tapak dara leaf (Catharanthus roseus L.) is known to have antibacterial activity derived from secondary metabolites, namely Triterpenoid Indole Alkaloid (TIA), flavonoids, saponins, steroids, and tannins. The purpose of the study was to analyze the activity of 96% ethanol extract of tapak dara leaves with the highest inhibitory power against Streptococcus mutans bacteria and determine chemical compounds through phytochemical tests. Antibacterial testing of 96% ethanol extract of virgin tread leaves using disc diffusion method with LDH (Width Inhibitory Power) measurement. Antibacterial tests of ethanol extract of tapak dara leaf were carried out on concentrations of 60%, 65%, 70%, and 75%. DMSO solvent 10% as a negative control and amoxicillin antibiotic 500 ppm as a positive control. The results showed that antibacterial test results at a concentration of 75% showed antibacterial activity with the highest inhibitory power averaging 6.27 mm. Phytochemical test results show that 96% ethanol extract of tapak dara leaf contains alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and steroids
