Abstract

The ASF (African Swine Fever) virus outbreak resulted in a 100% mortality rate among the pig population in Tomoni Timur District. This situation has severely impacted the local economy, with a significant portion of the community losing their sources of income. The government has implemented crisis communication strategies as an effort to enhance the economic resilience of the local community. This research aims to explore effective crisis communication strategies for bolstering the economic resilience of pig farming communities following an ASF virus outbreak. The study adopts a qualitative approach with a case study design. Data sources include observations, interviews, documentation, and literature review, with data analysis stages comprising data collection, data presentation, and conclusions. The findings of this research reveal that economic resilience efforts within the community can be facilitated through the implementation of crisis communication strategies, including Crisis Communication Plan Development, Proactive and Transparent Communication, and Reconstruction of Trust and Livestock Subsector Resilience. Furthermore, the community's response to crisis communication strategies involves increased awareness levels, active public engagement in government decisions, and impacts on economic resilience.

Abstract

This study aims to uncover and understand the various barriers to intercultural communication faced by students at the IAHN Gde Pudja Mataram Student Dormitory. As a higher education institution with a significant diversity of ethnicities and cultures among its students, the dormitory presents a unique social dynamic. However, this diversity can lead to conflict if not managed properly. The research uses a qualitative approach, employing data collection techniques such as participatory observation, semi-structured interviews, and document analysis. The findings reveal that factors such as language differences, social norms, ethnocentrism, and a lack of cultural awareness are the primary causes of intercultural communication barriers at the dormitory. Students tend to interact mostly within their own ethnic groups, avoiding communication with those from other ethnic backgrounds, which often leads to misunderstandings and prejudice. Moreover, a closed attitude and a lack of respect for cultural differences further worsen the social atmosphere within the dorm. The study concludes that initiatives from both students and dormitory management are needed to foster cultural understanding, enhance empathy, and create opportunities for cross-ethnic interactions in order to promote a better social harmony. The findings are expected to provide guidance for developing more effective intercultural communication policies in multicultural higher education environments.

Abstract

This study aims to explore in depth how the narrative and representation of Lombok’s traditional cuisine are constructed and disseminated through social media, while also evaluating the effectiveness of digital media as a promotional strategy for regional tourism development. The research is grounded in the fact that, despite Lombok’s abundant natural resources and strong tourism potential, the sector has yet to become a primary economic driver. Similarly, local culinary heritage—which holds substantial appeal for tourists—has not been strategically leveraged by formal institutions through digital platforms. Adopting a descriptive qualitative approach, data collection was carried out through digital observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation of social media content. Informants were selected using purposive sampling based on their active engagement in producing Lombok culinary content and their involvement in digital tourism promotion. Data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman interactive model, which includes data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings indicate that Lombok culinary content circulating on social media predominantly features iconic dishes such as ayam taliwang, plecing kangkung, and sate rembiga. Most widely shared content is created by non-formal actors, including food vloggers and individual travelers, while contributions from formal stakeholders remain minimal. This study, therefore, recommends the need for cross-sector collaboration to maximize the role of social media in enhancing culinary promotion and strengthening Lombok’s tourism image.

Abstract

Meaningful learning positions students as individuals who develop holistically in the cognitive, affective, social, and spiritual domains. In this context, teachers' communication and socio-emotional competencies are key factors in building quality learning experiences. A number of studies show that these two competencies contribute significantly to the quality of learning, but are generally still studied separately. This study aims to comprehensively examine the integration of teachers' communication and socio-emotional competencies in realising meaningful learning in holistic learning at Pratama Widyalaya Serathi Dharma, East Luwu Regency. This study uses a descriptive qualitative approach with observation, interview, and documentation techniques. Informants were selected purposively based on their relevance and competence to the research object. Data analysis used the Miles and Huberman model, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The findings show that teachers' communication competencies, including discourse, linguistic, actional, sociocultural, and strategic competencies, contribute to creating effective and contextual learning interactions. Meanwhile, teachers' socio-emotional competencies, which include self-awareness, self-control, motivation, empathy, and social skills, contribute to building a humanistic, safe, and inclusive classroom climate. The integration of these two competencies forms a synergy that supports the realisation of meaningful learning oriented towards academic achievement, character development, social skills, and spiritual awareness of students in accordance with Hindu educational values. Therefore, this study recommends strengthening teacher competencies through various planned and continuous professional development programmes for teachers to improve the quality and sustainability of learning.
