Abstract

Plosasari village, located in the Puri Sub-district, Mojokerto regency, Jawa Timur, deals with a severe communal drainage system problem, including erosion and environmental pollution. This community service aims to provide counselling on village drainage optimization as a step towards a better environment. The methodology to realize this service starts with a preliminary survey to investigate the existing condition of the drainage channel, preparation of presentation material based on literature review and previous survey, and finally, the implementation of the seminar in the village hall. The counselling results show that people's knowledge about the importance of drainage increased, and practical solutions to tackle common drainage problems were successfully formulated, including good drainage infrastructure planning, integrated waste management, and smart technology. Some constraints to realize those solutions include the difficulty of gathering community members and the lack of waste disposal facilities. This counselling supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals, especially for target number 6th, which is about clean water and sanitation, and target number 11th, which is about sustainable cities and communities, by proposing innovative and collaborative solutions for rainwater management and village drainage system. This counselling result can be implemented in other villages facing similar problems to improve the health and environmental conditions in the community.

Abstract

Lembeyan Hamlet, Doyomulyo Village, Kembangbahu District, Lamongan Regency has a well-functioning and clean simple drainage system. However, continuous community awareness and capacity-building are needed to ensure sustainable maintenance and development. This community service activity aims to strengthen residents’ technical understanding and encourage active participation in maintaining environmental quality through education and evaluation based on field surveys. The methods included surveying existing drainage conditions to identify development opportunities, preparing educational materials derived from literature and field data, conducting interactive community workshops, and assessing knowledge improvement through pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The results showed an increased understanding of sustainable drainage management, including rainwater control and domestic waste management to maintain drainage performance. The community also proposed development ideas such as simple infiltration systems and inspection wells. This activity supports Sustainable Development Goals point 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation) and point 11 (Sustainable Cities and Communities) by promoting sustainability values and community collaboration in managing local environmental infrastructure.

Abstract

There is an increasing need for practical tools that help users determine the appropriate mix composition of concrete incorporating ceramic waste as a partial fine aggregate replacement. Such tools can simplify the process of designing environmentally friendly concrete while ensuring that the resulting material meets the required strength standards. This study aims to determine the percentage of concrete mixture utilizing ceramic waste as a substitute for fine aggregates in concrete, assess its impact on concrete compressive strength using the RMSE method, and visualize it through Android modulator technology. Compressive strength tests were based on the previous research study, with curing intervals of 7, 14, and 28 days. The concrete quality test results indicate that concrete mixed with ceramic waste as a partial replacement for fine aggregates produces a strength that meets the standard for normal concrete, ranging between 30 - 40 MPa. A polynomial regression model synthesis based on the available laboratory data demonstrated good reliability, with an RMSE value of 0.172. Furthermore, using an Android emulator technology named BetonKU, the application successfully visualized the concrete mix design composition incorporating ceramic waste as a fine aggregate substitute according to the input data for the designed concrete strength.
