Abstract

The modern era epitomizes a period of profound transformation across diverse spheres including science, technology, politics, and warfare, characterized by discovery, innovation, and globalization. European powers and their colonies spearheaded a comprehensive colonization endeavor encompassing politics, economics, and culture, shaping what we recognize today as the modern world. This era heralded the ascendance of capitalism, liberalism, materialism, and globalization, predominantly led by Western hegemony, notably post-Cold War American capital, extending its influence globally. Modernity, with its core tenets of moral autonomy, human rights, civil equality, consumerism, market freedom, and secularism, presents a formidable challenge to traditional religious frameworks, particularly within the Abrahamic Faiths. The secularization of society, relegating religion to the private sphere, prompts shifts within religious communities, including Islam, regarding values, ethics, and gender roles. Muslims navigate a complex landscape, torn between adherence to Islamic principles and the pervasive secular worldview propagated by the modern West. Despite maintaining Islamic beliefs and practices, individuals are inevitably influenced by the dominant secular paradigm, shaped by Western education systems and cultural norms. This convergence engenders a tension wherein Islamic principles are often interpreted through a liberal and secular lens, leading to internal conflicts, doubts, and confusion. This article endeavors to establish a framework for understanding gender within Islam, rooted in the foundational texts of the Quran and Sunnah. While acknowledging the potential contributions of sociology, anthropology, and gender studies to the discourse, the focus remains on traditional Islamic scholarship, drawing insights from Islamic jurisprudence and theology to elucidate gender roles and relations. By grounding the discussion in Islamic principles, the aim is to reconcile contemporary understandings of gender with the enduring teachings of Islam, offering clarity amidst the complexities of modernity. The research methodology for this article is primarily rooted in Islamic Hermeneutics or Islamic Textual Analysis that involves a systematic examination and understanding of scripture to derive meaning and guidance. The complexity of the topic also demands a nuanced exploration of the intersections between religion, culture, and modernity, with a specific focus on the evolving understanding of gender within the Muslim community. The research explored two questions: How does scripture define, discuss, and describe gender, and what implications does the Islamic paradigm of gender hold for contemporary societal attitudes and practices? As a result, the text highlights how society, media, literature, and culture heavily influence how we perceive ideas and process information, including our understanding and application of Islam. This can lead to conflict within ourselves, especially when we interpret Islamic texts and guidance through the prism of modern liberal thought or other ideologies. As Muslims, we need to remain grounded in our teachings and understanding that are rooted in the words of God and the example of His Prophet ﷺ. Our morals, values, ethics, and principles should not be shaped by the changing standards of society around us.

Trust in the wisdom of the ancient Islamic philosophers and their groundbreaking theories that have stood the test of time. Gain a deeper understanding of the importance of nurturing the soul in the formative years and start a journey towards a more enlightened approach to child-rearing. This article uses a qualitative-descriptive approach involving a literature review and comparative analysis based on Ibn Sinā's works. The primary research method employed in this study is the Design and Development Research (DDR) method. This method involves a systematic investigation of the design and principles of the CSD Model. The research activities include developmental research stages using the Fuzzy Delphi Method. The study found that the text explores the concepts of religious education, emotional intelligence, and spiritual intelligence, highlighting the significance of emotional and spiritual literacy in children's education. It also discusses the CSD model proposed by Ibn Sina, which provides a hierarchical structure of the soul's different functions and levels, emphasizing physical, emotional, and intellectual integration within human beings. Furthermore, it discusses the crucial elements that parents believe are necessary for their children's spiritual development, including love and nurturing, values and morals, spirituality and faith, sense of identity, resilience and emotional intelligence, education and intellectual growth, compassion and empathy, freedom and independence, nature, and connection to the world, and relationships and social skills.

Abstract

This paper addresses the vital importance of fair and transparent elections as the foundation of a robust democracy, crucial for representing citizens' voices and fostering trust in the electoral process. In Bangladesh, the pursuit of fair elections faces significant challenges, including transparency issues, accountability concerns, and instances of voter fraud. This analysis presents a novel approach that combines Quranic principles with biometric voting technology to address the challenges faced by the current voting system. Taking inspiration from Islamic values, particularly those that emphasize justice, equality, and accountability, the proposed framework intends to improve the democratic aspect of e-voting in Bangladesh. By incorporating biometric authentication mechanisms, such as fingerprint or iris scanning, this framework seeks to ensure the integrity of the voting process while adhering to Quranic and Prophetic principles of fairness and transparency. This study explores the feasibility and implications of implementing such a system within Bangladesh's electoral landscape through a multidisciplinary approach that bridges Islamic scholarship, technological innovation, and political theory. By leveraging the potential of biometric voting technology guided by Quranic principles, this research contributes to the ongoing discourse on electoral reform and democratization in Bangladesh, offering valuable insights into how technology and ethical considerations can intersect to strengthen democratic governance.

Abstract

This study explores the policy implications of the TikTok Shop e-commerce platform in the contemporary era through the lens of Siyasah Syar'iyyah. As one of the fastest-growing e-commerce platforms, TikTok Shop has significantly influenced the dynamics of digital transactions and interactions between consumers and businesses. However, with the rapid pace of digital transformation, there is a need for policy evaluation that effectively regulates transactions and aligns with Shariah principles. The research adopts an empirical juridical approach, employing field studies and in-depth interviews as the primary methods for data collection. Interviews were conducted with Islamic economic experts, e-commerce practitioners, and relevant policymakers. The findings indicate that existing TikTok Shop policies can be aligned with Siyasah Syar'iyyah principles by emphasizing justice (al-‘adalah) and public benefit (al-Maslahah). This includes ensuring equal opportunities for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and other small-scale entrepreneurs and maintaining that products sold meet Shariah standards, such as being halal and providing transparent product information. However, key challenges in implementing Shariah-based regulations include monitoring the dynamic content and transactions on the platform and addressing the use of algorithms that may be unfair or manipulative. To address these challenges, strict yet adaptive regulations are needed to keep up with technological advancements. The academic contribution of this study lies in advancing a more relevant and practical application of Siyasah Syar'iyyah for regulating digital platforms in the modern era. Furthermore, it provides policy recommendations to create a fairer, more transparent e-commerce ecosystem that upholds Shariah values, delivering long-term benefits for society and the global digital industry.
