Abstract

This study aimed to determine the effect of Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model on tenth grade students’ higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) in ecosystem concept. The design of this study was quasi experimental research with "nonequivalent pretest-posttest control group design". The population of this study was X grade students in Senior High School (SHS) Kandangan, South Kalimantan. The sample were chosen through random sampling technique. The sample will be tested for equivalence based on the data of from the report card from the first semester. The instrument of data collection is students HOTS rubric that developed by Hart (1994) with a range of scores for each question ranging from 0 to 4. One way analysis of variance (anava) was used as hypothesis test in this study. The result showed that PBL learning model had a positive effect on HOTS. It can be seen from the average of HOTS level of control class was 28.40 and treatment class was 36,23 and seen from F value = 20.97 whereas F table = 0.05 means F arithmetic > F table.

Abstract

The use of local wisdom as learning sources and the empowerment of students? Higher-Order Thinking Skills (HOTS) are the two components that must be carried out in the 21st-century biology learning. The purpose of this study was to explore the information about the application of local wisdom-based learning and HOTS-based assessment in Banjarmasin. This survey research involved 41 high school biology teachers in Banjarmasin who joined in Biology Teacher Working Group activities as research samples. The research instruments were questionnaires that were validated by experts. The data were analyzed using descriptive statistics in term of percentage. The findings showed that the teacher gave a positive response to the content of local wisdom to be a source of biology learning. In addition, they believed that through the learning, the students caring attitudes towards the potential and local wisdom of South Kalimantan were developed. Nonetheless, the empowerment of HOTS was not optimal as it was less frequent for the teachers to design HOTS-based learning in their class.

Abstract

Inclusion education is an educational system that provides opportunities to all children who have disabilities and have the potential of intelligence or special talents to follow learning in an educational environment together with students in general. The implementation of the 2013 curriculum in education emphasizes character education. Teachers certainly have difficulty in internalizing character values in ABK, considering that not all characters can be internalized to students. In this case, teachers have different perceptions in internalizing character values in this 2013 curriculum. This study aims to describe the perception of classroom teachers towards: School and teacher readiness, learning process, and various obstacles that occur in internalizing the values of abk character in the 2013 curriculum at SDN Banua Anyar 4 Banjarmasin. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. Data collection techniques are conducted through observation and interview. The results of the study were obtained as follows: (1) Classroom teachers have the same perception of the readiness of schools and teachers in internalizing character values in abk, namely schools making policies, developing programs that support the process of internalizing character values, and schools providing special guidance teachers, and providing adequate facilities. While the readiness of teachers in internalizing character values in ABK is a learning tool in accordance with the provisions of the 2013 curriculum, learning media, teaching materials, and attitude assessment instruments, (2) Class teachers have the same perception of the character of ABK in the learning process, according to the teachers of abk class has different characters in accordance with annoyance or obstacles suffered by ABK. While internalizing the character value in abk in the learning process, there are three stages, namely the planning stage, implementation stage, and evaluation stage, (3) The class teacher has difficulty in the lack of involvement of parents in internalizing character values, the difficulty of internalizing the value of discipline character, and the limitation of teacher knowledge in ABK.

Abstract

Education is considered as an aspect that has an important role in shaping the nation's generation so that students do not lose their grip on traditions and cultural paths in accordance with the philosophy of the Indonesian nation. The implementation of the 2013 curriculum in education emphasizes character education. Teachers certainly have difficulty in internalizing character values in hyperactive children, considering that not all characters can be internalized to students. In this case, teachers have a perception in internalizing character values in hyperactive children. This study aims to describe the perception of teachers towards the character of hyperactive children in generalizing character values and constraints in the realization of character values at SDN Benua Anyar 4 Banjarmasin. This type of research is qualitative descriptive research. The subjects of the study were class teachers and assisted teachers in grade II grade IV sdn Banua Anyar 4 Banjarmasin. Data collection techniques are conducted through observation and interview. Data analysis techniques are performed by data collection, data grouping, and data inferferring. The results of the study were obtained as follows: (1) Teachers have almost the same perception of the character of hyperactive children, namely hyperactive children are children who have difficulty concentrating, avoid thinking, nosy activities, can not do tasks by themselves, can not be silent, (2) Teachers use the way of internalizing character values in school by applying in each subject and daily behavior, (3) Class teachers experience obstacles in internalizing character values such as constraints from the environment, constraints on teacher's lack of competence to character scores, constraints from students in the school environment and constraints on parents of hyperactive children.
