Abstract

Background: The prevalence rate of stunting in the last 2 years in Papua Province from 29 regencies/cities with the highest stunting cases, namely Asmat Regency, has increased, namely in 2021 by 38.1%, rising to 54.5% in 2022. Objective: To evaluate prevention policies Stunting in ASMAT Regency, South Papua Province. The research method is qualitative descriptive by conducting in-depth interviews, Focus Group Discussions (FGD) and observation. The selection of informants in this research used a purposive sampling technique. There were 12 informants in the research. Research instruments: interview guide, in-depth interview recording tool. Data Analysis Using Content Analysis. Research results: The obstacles to implementing stunting prevention policies from the input side are that human resources are still lacking and community health centers which are far from the Health Service cannot implement the 1000 HPK program. The obstacles to the process component are the cadres who cook the food for 1000 HPK (not nutrition officers) so it is found that there are still vegetables that are too cooked in cooking and the lack of counseling from Health Officers when monitoring meals on the spot at the 1000 HPK Post, recording and reporting from the midwife guarding the 1000 HPK Post less complete. Obstacles from the Output Component of basic immunization coverage are still some that have not met the target because parents are prohibited from immunizing and when the baby is re-visited for immunization, the baby has been taken to the forest to look for food for months or even years, carrying pregnant women and children. child. Suggestion: it is best to issue a policy from the Regent to prohibit pregnant women and children from being taken into the forest to look for food so that they can participate in the 1000 HPK program from the beginning of pregnancy until the baby is 2 years old to prevent stunting.

Abstract

This Community Service aims to improve the knowledge of postpartum mothers about protein-rich nutrition and factors that can inhibit iron absorption. The methods used include counseling, teaching the preparation of snakehead fish nuggets, and health examinations. This activity was conducted in Sereh Village, Sentani, from May to November 2023, with stages including leaflet distribution, nutritional counseling, and hemoglobin level checks before and after consuming nuggets for 14 days. Prior to the main activities, a trial for nugget preparation was conducted, followed by home visits for observation and evaluation. The hemoglobin level checks revealed that 10 (38.46%) postpartum and breastfeeding mothers experienced mild anemia, while 16 (61.54%) did not have anemia, with an average hemoglobin level of 10.196 g/dl. After consuming 100 grams of nuggets daily for 14 days, changes in hemoglobin levels were observed, with mothers who previously experienced mild anemia transitioning to a non-anemic status. The average hemoglobin level after consuming snakehead fish nuggets was 12.308 g/dl, with an average increase of 2.116 g/dl before and after nugget consumption. The conclusion of this community service activity indicates that postpartum mothers experienced an increase in knowledge regarding the importance of protein-rich nutrition and factors that can inhibit iron absorption.

Nutrient deficiencies in pregnant women can be in the form of deficiencies of macro- and micronutrients. Micronutrient deficiencies are still a problem in Indonesia (Riskesdas, 2013). The intake of micronutrients that have an important role in food and nutrition problems, one of which is calcium. Calcium administration is a preventive effort against hypertension in pregnancy (Manuaba, I.B.G et al., 2007). The results of the Preliminary Survey at puskesmas Harapan obtained data on visits by hypertensive pregnant women reaching 759 (28.3%) visits per year. (Dinkes Kab. Jayapura 2018). This service aims to provide knowledge (Knowledge Transfer) to the target of the activity on the importance of calcium and vitamin D supplement intake during pregnancy to prevent hypertension in pregnant women. The method in this service is counseling on the intake of calcium and vitamin D supplements to prevent hypertension in pregnancy, as well as examination of pregnant women in the villages of Nolokla and Asai Besar. Community service activities are carried out in August – November 2021.
