Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kondisi Daerah Tambang Pesisir Pantai Morowali yang telah direklamasi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji jenis-jenis kerusakan, menentukan tingkat kerusakan, dan merumuskan strategi pengelolaan lingkungan akibat kegiatan Reklamasi Didaerah Morowali. Strategi dan kebijakan pengelolaan lingkungan yaitu pembukaan dan penyiapan lahan dibatasi sesuai kebutuhan lahan untuk usaha pertambangan bijih nikel dan sarana prasarana pertambangan, melakukan kegiatan penataan lahan (reklamasi) untuk selanjutnya dilakukan revegetasi pada lokasi bekas penambangan, pembuatan kolam pengendapan, melakukan pengendalian dan pengawasan dalam pengelolaan sumber daya alam disertai dengan penegakan hukum yang tepat. Abstract

Peran ekosistem terumbu karang dalam menunjang penghidupan masyarakat khususnya masyarakat pesisir sangatlah penting, Karena terumbu karang belum ada di semua perairan, maka dapat digunakan sebagai fasilitas medis dan ekowisata untuk mencegah abrasi, menyediakan tempat berlindung dan berkembang biak bagi berbagai jenis ikan, menstabilkan sedimen, serta sebagai fasilitas ekowisata yang menarik bagi wisatawan. Terumbu karang berguna baik untuk memecah ombak maupun sebagai sumber pasir untuk pantai di negara berkembang seperti Indonesia, terumbu karang berperan penting dalam kegiatan konservasi biota laut. Penyakit terumbu karang, atau pemutihan karang (coral bleaching) kurang dipahami di Indonesia, terutama di seperti yang terjadi di perairan Kabupaten Bulukumba, Sulawesi Selatan. Pemutihan karang ini disebabkan oleh tipisnya lapisan ozon yang menyebabkan kenaikan suhu akibatnya, kasus ini dapat mengganggu kapasitas fotosintesis zooxanthellae. Jika zooxanthellae tidak berfotosintesis, bahan kimia berbahaya dapat diproduksi yang dapat merusak sel hingga memutih. Periode pemutihan yang terlalu lama (10 minggu atau lebih) dapat membunuh polip karang untuk itu, perlu dilakukan penanggulangan atau mengurangi kejadian pemutihan karang dengan harus segera diatasi dan diselesaikan.

Abstract

  Makassar City is a coastal city in Indonesia with a coastline length of 32 km which includes eleven small islands and a total area of 122,370 km or about 1.1% of the area. This is why Makassar City has a unique character as a coastal city. In recent years, coastal areas in various parts of Indonesia have experienced a very alarming decline, according to the report of the Content Study and Management Plan for Coastal Waters and Oceans, Ministry of Regional Development and Regional Development. Makassar City is one of 30 coastal cities in Indonesia. It is estimated that coastal cities in Indonesia can be affected by rising sea levels in coastal areas, among others; Coastal areas are exposed to negative impacts such as sedimentation (deposition), environmental pollution, then changes in the water system due to human activities and building infrastructure on land but also at sea. The Makassar coastal area has experienced a significant decrease in environmental carrying capacity caused by uncontrolled access to building infrastructure and the condition of the earth's surface shape in coastal areas that can cause disasters. If coastal conditions are not repaired/improved and reduced, it will cause damage to coastal environmental areas which also have an impact on the surrounding areas. Abstract

The existence of artificial reefs in coastal areas is used to repair damaged habitats by simulating the ecological role of natural coral reefs. The selection of placement locations under the sea is done so that artificial reefs can function properly. The purpose of this study was to determine the influence of hydro-oceanographic characteristics on the placement of artificial reefs that have been carried out in several coastal areas in Indonesia. This research is expected to provide an overview of the effectiveness of artificial reef placement towards efforts to repair damage to the coastal ecosystem. Artificial reef data was obtained in coastal waters located in Java and Sulawesi Island. Review of the application of artificial reefs includes placement location, hydro-oceanographic data, and evaluation of the existing condition of artificial reefs after the sinking period. The review of the relationship between the initial data and the existing condition of artificial reefs after the sinking period at the placement site against the hydro-oceanographic characteristics of the respective coastal water location. The success of artificial reef placement as a coastal ecosystem restoration effort is strongly influenced by bathymetry contours, wave height, current speed, and sedimentation.
