Abstract

This research analyzes the agenda-setting strategies employed by the news portal rri.co.id in building a positive image of Yogyakarta City regarding the phenomenon of "klitih." Through interviews with rri.co.id editors and journalists and an analysis of published news articles, the study reveals that rri.co.id utilizes an agenda-setting strategy by reframing the term "klitih" as "street crimes" in their reporting. This strategy aims to alleviate the perceived tension among the public and construct a positive image of Yogyakarta City. Furthermore, the research highlights the crucial role of journalists and editors in crafting accurate and responsible news content. The findings align with the agenda-setting theory, which elucidates how the media influences public attention and policymaking through agenda setting. This research provides a better understanding of the media's influence in shaping regional images and the contribution of agenda-setting strategies in the 'klitih' issue in Yogyakarta.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the many acts of body shaming that attack women. The emergence of society's views regarding ideal body image encourages people, whether consciously or not, to compare themselves with other people. Women's space for movement becomes narrow due to patriarchy which regulates men in a dominant position while women are in a subordinate position. This is why women experience body shaming more often than men. The impacts range from a person's lack of self-confidence to mental disorders. Basically everyone can be a target for body shaming, such as Aurel Hermansyah. Aurel Hermansyah experienced body shaming through social media comments when she was pregnant with her first child because she was considered to have changed her body shape. The negative comments given to Aurel Hermansyah made Atta Hlilintar release a song entitled Berhak Bahagia. Therefore, this research aims to determine the form of resistance of the anti-body shaming movement in the song Berhak Bahagia. Using qualitative methods with a critical approach. The data collection techniques used were observation, literature study and documentation.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the representation of sexual violence against women in the film Vina: Before 7 Days and its impact on public perception, as well as to contribute to filmmakers in depicting sensitive issues. The urgency of this research lies in the importance of increasing public awareness of the issue of sexual violence which continues to increase. The method used is a qualitative approach with semiotic analysis techniques based on John Fiske's perspective, which focuses on the interaction of signs and audiences in a cultural context. The main data consists of scenes in films that show sexual violence, supported by secondary data from news articles and journals. Data collection techniques include non-participant observation, literature study, and documentation, while analysis is carried out using the Miles & Huberman method, which includes data condensation, data presentation, and drawing conclusions using theoretical triangulation. The results of this research show that the film "Vina: Prior 7 Hari" displays two scenes of sexual violence against women, namely harassment in the women's bathroom and rape by a motorbike gang, which is analyzed through John Fiske's semiotic theory, showing the reality of sexual violence, criticism of norms society, patriarchal domination, and social apathy which are reflected in reflective, intentional, and constructionist representations.
