Abstract

AbstractThe tourist village of Mount Mijil has a strong historical value associated with the struggle of Prince Diponegoro against the Netherlands. The tourist village was officially inaugurated in 2020 in the early year of the Covid-19 pandemic. To this day, the village of Mijil Mountain tourism is still shallow and not many people know where it is. Therefore, this study aims to analyze the management of the tourist village in order to formulate a better strategy in its management. This research is qualitative, the results of the research are presented in a descriptive way to obtain a picture of the potential, advantages and disadvantages, as well as the management of the tourist village of Gunung Mijil. The methods used in data collection are with interviews, observations, archives and library studies. The results of the research show that the Mijil Mountain Tourism Village has the potential and tourist attractiveness of the rural life atmosphere around the limestone hills, as well as the strong historical value of being the site of the Prince Diponegoro's petition. The tourist village is managed by a non-formal institution called Gumi Buldozer, which is represented by the people of Mount Mijil Village. However, the management of the Mountain Mijil Tourism Village is not maximum. The availability of amenities is incomplete, the accessibility is inadequate and the commitment of managers is weak.Keywords: Village Tourism; Management; Gunung Mijil Tourist VillageAbstrakDesa Wisata Gunung Mijil memiliki nilai historis yang kuat terkait dengan Perjuangan Pangeran Diponegoro di era 1825-1830. Desa wisata ini diresmikan pada tahun 2020 di tahun awal pandemi virus Covid-19 melanda. Hingga saat ini desa wisata Gunung Mijil masih redup dan tidak banyak orang yang tahu keberadaannya. Oleh karena itu, penelitian ini dilakukan dengan tujuan untuk menganalisis pengelolaan desa wisata tersebut agar dapat disusun strategi yang lebih baik dalam pengelolaannya. Penelitian ini bersifat kualitatif, hasil penelitian disajikan secara deskriptif untuk memperoleh gambaran mengenai potensi, kelebihan dan kekurangan, serta pengelolaan desa wisata Gunung Mijil. Metode yang digunakan dalam pengumpulan data adalah dengan wawancara, observasi, arsip-arsip dan studi pustaka. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa Desa Wisata  Gunung Mijil memiliki potensi dan daya tarik wisata berupa suasana kehidupan pedesaan di sekitar bukit kapur, serta nilai historis yang kuat yaitu sebagai tempat petilasan Pangeran Diponegoro. Desa wisata tersebut dikelola oleh lembaga non formal bernama Gumi Buldozer yang beranggotakan warga Desa Gunung Mijil. Namun, pengelolaan Desa Wisata Gunung Mijil belum maksimal. Ketersediaan amenitas belum lengkap, aksesibilitas kurang memadai dan komitmen pengelola lemah.Kata Kunci: Desa Wisata; Manajemen; Desa Wisata Gunung Mijil

Abstract

Although traditional travel agents have played an important role as proxies enabling travelers to make connections with hotels, the emergence of the internet has changed the traditional relationship between hotels and travel agents. Instead of a traditional agent–principal relationship, online travel agents (OTAs) seem to act as more than just intermediaries and more as business partners or vendors. Scholars have previously observed troubled, if not hostile, relationships between hotels and OTAs. There has been a growing tendency for hotel and accommodation business worldwide to use online travel agents (OTAs) to promote and sell their rooms. This research discusses the advantages and disadvantages of the promotion and sales through OTAs for hotel business in Kaliurang a famous tourism destination object in Yogyakarta. The object of the research is the hotel manager, supervisors and staff who handle the hotel promotion and sales of their accommodation business. Hotel were located in Kaliurang chosen based on cluster proportional and the informants were chosen based on purposive sampling technique. The result shows that the disadvantages in using OTAs as promotion and sales tool are rising occupancy, direct payment, and as a tool in making hotel well known worldwide. The disadvantages are decrease net sales, over booking, negative comments could downgrade the hotels rank, and OTAs make hotels website got limited traffic. The motivation of hotel managements in using OTAs is highly motivated. The dominant factor of the perception included factors in self-perception of the target, factor in the self-perception, and factors perception of situation. This research suggests to the villa management to recruit special personnel for handling OTAs as well as to manage own websites to increase the net sales.
