Abstract

In Indonesia, poverty continues to be a major issue. According to Statistics Indonesia, there were 9.78% of the population living in poverty in 2020, with Java Island accounting for 50% of the nation’s total poor people. Furthermore, poverty reduction is the primary concern due to Central Java’s high poverty rate, which is still higher than the national average, so it has become a shared challenge. This study measured poverty by clusters based on a variety of deprivations that residents of 35 regencies or municipalities in Central Java Province experienced. Additionally, 16 poverty indicators based on the criteria and income of the poor and underprivileged from the Ministry of Social Affairs comprised the variables used in this study. Moreover, by selecting the optimal cluster, characteristic poverty was obtained employing fuzzy C-means (FCM) as cluster analysis. In addition, each municipality/regency that shares a similarity indicator with another municipality/regency was categorized into one cluster. The clusters were fundamental to understanding the determinants of poverty and poverty alleviation programs. According to the clustering results, there were four clusters considered the best cluster, and it demonstrated that the indicators most associated with poverty were non-food expenditure, drinking water adequacy, access to sanitation facilities, the open unemployment rate, and television ownership.

Abstract

Abstract

The development of information technology has had a significant impact on the growth of e-commerce in Indonesia. However, the distribution of e-commerce is still concentrated in Java and Sumatera. It shows the inequality of the distribution of the e-commerce industry. Therefore, this study attempted to model the growth of e-commerce by considering the effect of dependence between regions. The variables use in this study included economic growth, base transceiver station (BTS), computer use, cellular phone ownership and the availability of strong signals (4G). The methods used were the Spatial Autoregressive Model (SAR) and the Spatial Error Model (SEM). The study's results showed that the SAR model was better than the SEM model. In addition, the test results indicated an autocorrelation relationship between provinces, which means that the growth of e-commerce in a province will be followed by an increase in e-commerce in the surrounding region. Meanwhile, the e-commerce growth in a province was affected by BTS, computer and telephone use, the availability of strong signals, and spatial residuals from other provinces that are close to each other.

Abstract

Growth development is a multidimensional process that includes economic growth, the level of social welfare and environmental quality. This study aims to measure the achievement of balanced green economy inclusive growth at the district/city level in East Java in 2018 and 2021 using the concept of the Balance Inclusive Green Growth Index (BIGGI). Based on the results of the analysis conducted, it shows that the results of the BIGGI index in East Java are quite even. In general, the entire region of East Java has a high social dimension, except for districts on Madura Island. As for urban areas and industrial centers, BIGGI's achievements are influenced by the high value of the economic and social dimensions, but followed by the low value of the environmental dimension. The low value of the environmental dimension also affects the BIGGI pro forma imbalance in urban areas, where the BIGGI value is lower than the IGGI.
