Abstract

The low ability to understand students' mathematical concepts, one of the causes of which is the lack of use of interesting and varied learning media. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of using the Padlet application based on learning videos on the ability to understand mathematical concepts of fifth grade students of SDN 1 Syamtalira Bayu. This study used a quantitative approach with a quasi-experimental design. The sample consisted of 41 students divided into two groups: the experimental class using the Padlet application, and the control class using conventional learning methods. The instruments used were pretest and posttest. The results showed that the average posttest score of students in the experimental class was higher (84.5) than the control class (71.90). However, based on the t-test statistical test, a significance value of 0.425 (> 0.05) was obtained, indicating that the difference was not statistically significant. This means that although on average there was an increase in learning outcomes, there was no statistically significant effect between the use of the Padlet application based on learning videos and the improvement of students' mathematical concept understanding abilities. This study shows that the Padlet application can be a fun and interesting alternative media for students in understanding mathematical concepts. The novelty of this study lies in the use of video-based Padlet which is rarely applied at the elementary school level, especially in mathematics learning.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research is motivated by the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum, which provides teachers with the flexibility to design contextual and student-centered learning processes. The study aims to describe the strategies employed by teachers in developing teaching modules for the Merdeka Curriculum in the subject of Bahasa Indonesia at SD Negeri Bale Atu, Bener Meriah Regency. However, in practice, teachers still face various challenges in independently preparing teaching modules. This study uses a qualitative approach with a case study method. The research subjects were five Bahasa Indonesia teachers for grades III, IV, and V at SD Negeri Bale Atu. Data collection techniques included in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The collected data were analyzed descriptively through data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The findings show that the strategies used by teachers in preparing teaching modules include: understanding learning objectives and outcomes, aligning materials with student characteristics, utilizing digital resources, compiling modules gradually, and collaborating through teacher working group (KKG) forums. Challenges encountered include limited understanding of the structure of teaching modules, lack of technical training, time constraints, and limited access to learning resources. Nevertheless, teachers employed various innovations to overcome these obstacles, such as self-directed learning, participating in online training, and developing contextual and adaptive modules to meet students’ needs. This research recommends the importance of practical training and intensive mentoring for teachers in preparing teaching modules for the Merdeka Curriculum, as well as the need to improve facilities and access to learning resources in schools.

Abstract

Civic education in elementary schools plays an important role in shaping character and understanding of Pancasila values. However, learning methods that still predominantly use lectures often make it difficult for students to understand abstract concepts. This study was conducted to test the urgency of using Argument Mapping- based media as an innovative alternative in improving students' conceptual understanding. The study used a quasi-experimental method with a pretest-posttest control group design. The sample consisted of 35 fifth-grade students at SD Negeri 3 Blang Mangat, divided into an experimental class (18 students) using Argument Mapping and a control class (17 students) using conventional methods. The instrument was an essay test consisting of 8 items that had been tested for validity and reliability. The results showed a significant increase in the experimental class (average 72.22 to 91) compared to the control class, with a t-test (p < 0.05) proving a positive effect. It was concluded that the Argument Mapping media was effective in improving students' conceptual understanding and training them to think critically, systematically, and logically.
