Abstract

Background: Low exclusive breastfeeding is caused by problems experienced by mothers in breastfeeding, one of which is the factor of breast milk production. The impact if breast milk does not come out is that the breasts can become swollen, mastitis and even abscesses. Lack of knowledge of postpartum mothers can cause babies to experience dehydration, malnutrition, diarrhea and jaundice. Purpose: Provide education about the use of green beans to increase breast milk production. Method: Counseling activities were carried out on January 7, 2025 at 09.00 WITA to 12.30 WITA at the Binanga Health Center, Mamuju District in collaboration with the LPPM Siti Fatimah Mamuju Health and Business Institute. The activity was attended by cadres and residents in the Binanga Health Center work area. The implementation was carried out by providing material related to green bean nutrition as a supporter of increasing breast milk production. As a measurement of the level of knowledge using a questionnaire media which was carried out before (pre-test data) and after (post-test data) the counseling activity. Results: Participants were quite enthusiastic in participating in the activity and stated that they would consume green beans regularly to increase breast milk production. Questionnaire data showed that before the counseling, it was 55% and after the counseling it increased to 87%, this indicates that there was an increase in participants' understanding of the importance of nutritional intake in increasing breast milk production. Conclusion: Educational activities about nutrition in the community provide a positive contribution to the knowledge and understanding of the success of mothers in providing nutrition to their babies and the causes of irregular breast milk production. There is an increase in public knowledge about the importance of optimal nutritional intake and green beans are one of the good vegetable proteins for smooth breast milk production. Suggestion: It is expected that health workers will guide the community to utilize materials or plants that are around the environment such as TOGA (Family Medicinal Plants) in meeting nutritional intake needs which will be easier, more affordable, and more economical. Abstract

The quality of maternal and child health (MCH) services plays a key role in pregnant women’s satisfaction. This cross-sectional study analyzed the impact of MCH service quality on satisfaction among 60 pregnant women at Topore Health Center, Mamuju Regency, using purposive sampling. Data were collected via the SERVQUAL questionnaire covering five service quality dimensions (physical evidence, reliability, responsiveness, assurance, empathy) and satisfaction levels. Analysis with chi-square and linear regression showed an average service quality score of 3.45 (scale 1 – 5), with responsiveness highest (3.8) and physical evidence lowest (3.2). About 65% of respondents were satisfied, while 35% were dissatisfied due to long waits and inadequate facilities. Service quality was significantly associated with satisfaction (p = 0.001) and explained 58% of its variance (R² = 0.58). The study concludes that MCH service quality significantly affects pregnant women’s satisfaction at Topore Health Center.

Abstract

The labor process is a physiological event that is often accompanied by pain due to uterine contractions. Uncontrolled pain can cause fatigue, anxiety, and even slow down the progress of labor. One effective non-pharmacological method for reducing pain is breathing techniques. This community service activity aims to increase the knowledge and skills of pregnant women regarding proper breathing techniques when facing the first stage of labor. The activity was carried out at Puskesmas X, targeting 25 pregnant women in their third trimester. The activity methods included education, demonstration, and hands-on practice. The results of the activity showed an increase in participants' understanding of breathing techniques from 60% before education to 92% after education. Participants also reported an increase in their confidence in facing labor. This activity is expected to become a sustainable program in efforts to support safe and comfortable labor for mothers.

Abstract

Background: Physiological labor is an ideal, normal delivery process without complications. However, its success is greatly influenced by the quality of midwifery care. The concept of Continuity of Care (CoC) emphasizes the provision of continuous care from pregnancy, labor, and postpartum. Midwive’s competence in implementing CoC is believed to influence the success of physiological labor. Objective: This study aims to analyze the relationship between midwives' competence in Continuity of Care and the success rate of physiological labor. Methods: This study used an observational analytical design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 100 pregnant women assisted by midwives at primary health facilities in District X, selected using purposive sampling. Midwives' competence was measured using a valid and standardized questionnaire, while the success of physiological labor was recorded based on medical records. Data were analyzed using the Chi-Square test and logistic regression. Results: The results showed a significant relationship between midwives' competence in Continuity of Care and the success of physiological labor (p < 0.01). Pregnant women cared for by midwives with high competence were 3.2 times more likely to experience a physiological birth than those cared for by midwives with low competence (OR = 3.2; 95% CI = 1.6–6.4). Conclusion: Midwive’s competence in implementing Continuity of Care positively influences the success of a physiological birth. Improving midwives' competence through training and coaching is an important strategy to support safe and physiological births.

Abstract

Early Initiation of Breastfeeding (IMD) is the process of breastfeeding immediately after birth, with skin-to-skin contact between the mother and baby. Early initiation of breastfeeding is known to play a crucial role in the success of exclusive breastfeeding. However, coverage of early initiation of breastfeeding and exclusive breastfeeding in the community is still suboptimal. This study aims to determine the relationship between early initiation of breastfeeding and the success of exclusive breastfeeding. The research method used was quantitative with an analytical design and a cross-sectional approach. The study sample was mothers with infants aged 6–12 months. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using the Chi-Square test. The results showed a significant relationship between early initiation of breastfeeding and the success of exclusive breastfeeding (p < 0.05). The conclusion of this study is that mothers who practice early initiation of breastfeeding have a greater chance of successfully providing exclusive breastfeeding.

Abstract

Antenatal Care (ANC) is a health service provided to pregnant women on a regular and planned basis to monitor the health of the mother and fetus. However, some pregnant women still do not utilize ANC services optimally due to a lack of knowledge and understanding. This community service activity aims to improve pregnant women's knowledge of the importance of ANC through health education. Implementation methods include counseling, interactive discussions, and knowledge evaluation. The results of the activity indicate an increase in pregnant women's knowledge regarding the definition, purpose, benefits, and schedule of ANC visits. This activity is expected to increase pregnant women's compliance with regular ANC visits, thereby supporting efforts to prevent pregnancy complications.
