Abstract

This journal article explores the prophecies found in the Book of Psalms, employing a hermeneutical research method to argue that these prophecies serve as substantial evidence for the claim that Jesus is the Messiah. Through a detailed examination of key Psalms traditionally considered messianic, the article highlights the historical, literary, and theological dimensions of these texts, demonstrating their fulfillment in the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The Book of Psalms, a central text in the Hebrew Bible, contains numerous passages that have been interpreted as prophetic references to the coming Messiah. This article aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of these Psalms, employing hermeneutics to uncover their messianic significance and to present a compelling case for Jesus of Nazareth as the fulfillment of these ancient prophecies. Using the hermeneutical research method, this study examines the Psalms through multiple lenses: historical context, literary analysis, theological exegesis, canonical context, and reception history. This multifaceted approach ensures a thorough understanding of the text and its implications. Through hermeneutical analysis, this article provides substantial evidence that the messianic prophecies in the Psalms find their fulfillment in Jesus Christ. The convergence of historical, literary, and theological insights underscores the coherence and credibility of the claim that Jesus is the promised Messiah. This study not only enriches our understanding of the Psalms but also strengthens the theological foundation for Christian belief in Jesus as the Messiah.

Abstract

This study explores the timeless relevance of Job’s suffering as narrated in the biblical Book of Job, analyzing its practical theological implications for contemporary believers. Positioned “between ashes and hope,” Job's journey is not merely an ancient tale of personal tragedy but a profound reflection on faith, endurance, divine silence, and the mystery of suffering. In a modern world marked by existential anxiety, personal loss, injustice, and spiritual doubt, the figure of Job invites a deeper inquiry into how believers today can meaningfully engage with suffering without losing faith. This paper argues that Job’s suffering is not incidental but essential mandatory crucible through which authentic faith is refined. It challenges superficial understandings of prosperity theology, proposing instead a spiritual maturity rooted in the tension between lament and trust. By drawing on biblical exegesis, historical interpretations, and contemporary theological voices, this research examines: How Job’s responses model a sacred protest that honors both emotional honesty and reverence. The role of divine silence as a test of trust and a space for transformative waiting. The implications of non-retributive suffering, where pain is not punishment but participation in a deeper divine mystery. Ultimately, this paper seeks to equip modern believers with a resilient, hope-infused theology of suffering—one that does not deny pain but embraces it as a pathway to spiritual depth, solidarity with the suffering Christ, and ultimate restoration. In living “between ashes and hope,” the believer learns that God is most present not in explanations, but in enduring presence.   Contribution: This article contributes by offering practical and theological perspectives on how the suffering in the story of Job can be applied to contemporary life, especially for those facing difficulties and doubts. Additionally, it challenges narrow theological views, such as prosperity theology, by presenting a deeper understanding of suffering as a path to spiritual maturity, rather than as a punishment from God.

Abstract

Character education is an effort to form the personality of students into fully human beings so that they are useful to society and the country. The importance of character education requires philosophy, planning, and strategies to achieve the desired goals in the development of character education. The focus of character education is based on the theories and thoughts of Thomas Licona to shape the personality of students in Barengkok tutoring, Tenjo village, Bogor district. Based on Licona's theory, we can see that the development of measurable and coherent character education is the existence of real behavior in the form of honesty, responsibility, and courtesy. The terminology of character education introduced by Thomas Licona in the 1900s narrowed down to three main elements, namely knowing the good (knowing goodness), desiring the good (loving the truth) and doing the good (doing good). With this research, it is hoped that educators will understand aspects of education at the level of doing, not only on aspects of knowing and loving. This study uses a qualitative observation research method which explains the phenomena that exist in Barengkok tutoring. The phenomenon that occurs in Barengkok tutoring is not only limited to cognitive learning to students but gives students the opportunity to experience character building directly both in class and learning. The role of educators is to be able to integrate learning in tutoring in various subjects with character education as the entrance to the formation of children's character. Based on these three Licona theories, it is hoped that the development of character education in tutoring can be maximally applied to students. The author will examine through research from library sources and the theory of character education from Thomas Licona.  AbstrakPendidikan karakter merupakan upaya untuk pembentukan kepribadian peserta didik menjadi manusia yang seutuhmya sehingga berguna bagi masyarakat dan negara.
