Abstract

This type of research is qualitative with an exploratory study approach to get an overview of the factors that cause people not to have SPALs so that efforts can be made to overcome them, in the form of education and making environmentally friendly SPALs. Based on demographic data regarding the factors causing the lack of ownership of waste water disposal channels (SPAL) and efforts to approach environmental health aspects to increase SPAL ownership in the Tigapanah sub-district community in 2023, namely the most dominant age group is 41-60 years old, 175 people (49%) and the most aged 10-20 years as many as 5 people (1.4%), the most dominant occupation is farmers as many as 247 people (69.2), the most dominant education is middle school - high school as many as 232 people (65%), at least D1 education there were 31 people (8.7%), the most addresses were in Seberaya village as many as 79 (22.1%), and the fewest addresses were in Aji Julu village as many as 6 people (1.7%). The number of household residents who predominantly live in 1 house with 4 people or more is 186 people (52.1%) while 1 -3 people are 171 people (47.9).

Abstract

Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacterium Mycobacterium tuberculosis which infects about 10 million people causing the death of 1.3 million people worldwide, making it one of the environmental-based diseases that is still a public health problem. This situation was closely related to environmental factors, clean and healthy living behavior, and also the virus itself. Type of research was an analytic observational study, with a case control design where the population of this study was all pulmonary tuberculosis patients who are recorded in the tuberculosis registration book at the Somambawa community Health Center starting from January 2022 - June 2022 with a sample of 28 cases and 28 controls. Determining the influence of physical environmental factors and habits of patients with the incidence of tuberculosis. The data obtained were grouped based on the characteristics and risk factors for the incidence of tuberculosis which were analyzed univariately and bivariately using the Chi Square test at a 95% confidence level. The results showed that the humidity variable obtained p = 0.001 and OR = 0.10, temperature with p = 0.044 and OR = 0.162, occupancy density p = 0.006 and OR = 0.163, and the behavior of opening and closing windows p = 0.012 and OR = 0.188. It can be concluded that humidity, temperature, population density, and behavior of opening and closing windows have an influence on the incidence of tuberculosis in the working area of the Somambawa community health center, Somambawa sub district, Nias Selatan district in 2022. It is hoped that they can try to be independent in improving healthy houses by being able to be more routine in opening and closing windows, maintaining cleanliness, and being able to try independently in realizing healthy homes so that they can break the chain of spread of pulmonary tuberculosis.

Abstract

Clean and Healthy Living Behavior (PHBS) is an important preventative measure for improving the health status of school-aged children. However, the implementation of PHBS in schools still faces various obstacles such as low student knowledge, unsupportive attitudes, and limited sanitation facilities. This can impact the health quality of students and reduce the effectiveness of school health programs. This study was conducted to analyze the factors related to PHBS actions among students at SD Negeri 101846 in Kutalimbaru Sub-district, Deli Serdang Regency, in 2025. This research used an analytical survey design with a cross-sectional approach, involving all 48 students in grades IV and V through a total sampling method. Data were collected using a structured questionnaire that covered variables such as knowledge, attitudes, availability of facilities, and PHBS actions. Data analysis was performed with the Chi- Square test using a significance level of 0.05. The study results showed that most students had low knowledge (58.3%), poor attitudes (56.3%), and rated the school's facilities as low (89.6%). Despite this, students' PHBS actions were relatively balanced, with 50% being good and 50% being poor. Statistical tests showed a significant relationship between knowledge and CHLB actions (p=0.000) and between attitudes and PHBS actions (p=0.004). However, the availability of facilities was not significantly related to actions (p=0.345). In conclusion, knowledge and attitude factors are more dominant in influencing student behavior than are facilities. Therefore, it is recommended that the school strengthen health education interventions, promote healthy habits, and enhance the role of teachers and parents in instilling PHBS from an early age.
