Abstract

The Berau Regency Government in terms of the Culture and Tourism Departement currently does not have a comprehensive tourism industry planning and development strategy and the planning and development carried out are still sectoral. The data obtained shows that there has been a decrease in the number of tourists where in 2022 the number of tourists visiting Kaniungan Island was 3,171 people while in 2023 it was only 2,164 people. Good development and management of the tourism industry is needed to deal with the problems that exist on Kaniungan Island. The purpose of this study is to determine the existing conditions of the tourism industry, as well as the strategies obtained based on a SWOT analysis of internal and external factors, then formulate a tourism industry development strategy using the Quantitative Strategic Planning Matrix (QSPM) analysis. The findings obtained, that there are 11 tourism industry development strategies that can provide comprehensive solutions to the problems of the tourism industry on Kaniungan Island Keywords :Tourism, Industry, Developement, SWOT, QSPM
