Abstract

The concept of khilafah in Islamic thought has sparked considerable debate and conflict, particularly following the rise of the Hizbut Tahrir (HT) movement, which advocates for the establishment of a global Islamic government based on Taqiyuddin al-Nabhani's interpretation of khilafah. This study aims to trace the evolution of the meaning of khilafah from its origins in the Qur'an to its modern interpretation by al-Nabhani. Utilizing Julia Kristeva's intertextuality approach, the study explores how these changes in meaning occur and identifies the sources that have influenced al-Nabhani's thought. The findings indicate that the concept of khilafah in the Qur'an fundamentally denotes representation, applicable to both humans as God's vicegerents on earth and within a governmental framework. Nevertheless, the Qur'an does not provide explicit, detailed guidelines regarding the khilafah as a system of governance. Al-Nabhani reinterprets khilafah as a government founded on Islamic Shari'ah, structured around four primary pillars, and intended to have a global reach. The study reveals significant shifts in the meaning of khilafah, characterized by processes of transformation, modification, and expansion, reflecting the context and ideological perspectives that al-Nabhani introduces. These shifts are marked by the ideologeme of transposition, illustrating the adaptation of the concept to fit new ideological frameworks and contexts.

Abstract

The main purpose of the Qur'an is to improve human morals. The appropriate scientific discipline to study human behavior in psychology. Unfortunately, the psychological approach in Qur'anic studies is still rarely used. This paper aims to provide a building method of researching the Qur'an with a psychological approach, especially behaviorism which is the earliest approach of psychology. This research method uses a qualitative method with the type of library research. In the process of collecting data, researchers use the documentation method, which is the search for data related to variables or things in the form of books, journals, etc. The result of this study shows that In the behaviorist psychological approach, it is necessary to determine the dependent variable (which is affected) and the independent variable (which affects). In the context of Qur'anic studies, human interaction with the Qur'an can be the independent variable, while certain behaviors can be the dependent variable. Vice versa, human behavior can be an independent variable that affects human interaction with the Qur'an as the dependent variable. Research can also be conducted by observing objects as they are (natural) or observing objects in an artificial environment (experimental). The recommendation for further research is to promote Quranic research with a behaviorist approach. Other research models that try to make the Qur'an practical need to be encouraged, so that the ideals of the Qur'an to be able to influence human ethics can be achieved.

Abstract

This article examines the discourse on non-Muslim leadership through the lens of surah al-maidah verse 51. Because surah al-maidah verse 51 is often used as a reference for prohibiting non-Muslims from becoming leaders. This type of research is library research. This writing will focus on discussions of a literary nature, the study of which is by searching and reviewing various library materials that will be used by the author. This research uses the ma'na cum maghza hermeneutic approach initiated by Sahiron Syamsuddin. After researching using the ma'na cum maghza approach, there is no absolute prohibition in religion that forbids someone who is a non-Muslim from becoming a leader, as long as it does not cause harm. This is because leadership is an ability and readiness that a person has to be able to care for, supervise and protect the people they lead. Then, Indonesia is a nation state that does not adopt Islamic law as the basis of the state, and practices the concept of democracy, so that the appointment of leadership from non-Muslim circles in the country is permitted as long as it brings benefits.
