Abstract

Abstrak: Kemampuan dan minat membaca siswa Sekolah Dasar Negeri 123 Pekanbaru masih tergolong rendah berdasarkan hasil observasi awal. Tujuan utama kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah untuk memberikan dasar kecintaan dan juga pemahaman literasi pada siswa sekolah dasar negeri 123 Pekanbaru seperti membaca dan juga memahami isi bacaan. Metode yang dipakai dalam kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu metode pendampingan dimana tim pengabdi melakukan pendampingan kepada siswa untuk melaksanakan program one day one story. Tahapan pada pengabdian ini meliputi: (1) persiapan yang terdiri dari observasi dan perencanaan program; (2) pelaksanaan program yaitu one day one story; dan (3) evaluasi program. Mitra pada kegiatan pengabdian ini yaitu siswa kelas 5 sekolah dasar negeri 123 Pekanbaru yang berjumlah 30 siswa. Ketercapaian kegiatan pengabdian diukur melalui instrument soal Pre-Test dan Post-Test. Hasil dari kegiatan ini dapat diketahui dengan adanya program one day one story yang dilaksanakan terbukti mampu meningkatkan kemampuan dan juga minat siswa dalam hal literasi. Terjadi peningkatan minat siswa dalam membaca dengan persentase nilai N-Gain sebesar 58.8% dan penguasaan siswa dalam memahami bacaan juga terjadi peningkatan sebesar 66.67%.Abstract: The reading ability and interest of students at Sekolah Dasar Negeri 123 Pekanbaru have been observed to be relatively low based on initial observations. The primary objective of this community service initiative is to foster a foundation of love for reading and literacy comprehension among students at State Elementary School 123 Pekanbaru, encompassing reading skills and understanding the content of texts. The method employed in this service activity is an accompaniment approach, where the service team provides guidance to students in implementing the "One Day One Story" program. The stages of this service activity include: (1) preparation, which consists of observation and program planning; (2) program implementation, specifically the "One Day One Story" initiative; and (3) program evaluation. The partners involved in this activity are 30 fifth-grade students from State Elementary School 123 Pekanbaru. The success of this service activity is measured through Pre-Test and post-test instruments. The results of the activity indicate that the implementation of the "One Day One Story" program has effectively enhanced both the reading ability and interest of the students in literacy. There was an increase in students' interest in reading, with an N-Gain score of 58.8%, and a significant improvement in their comprehension of reading material, with a 66.67% increase.

Abstract

This research was motivated by the existence of students who were less active, less focused, and lacked confidence during the learning process, indicating the need for effective teaching skills to improve students’ learning motivation. This study aimed to determine the relationship between teachers’ teaching skills and students’ learning motivation in Indonesian language learning for fourth grade students at SDIT Raudhaturrahmah Pekanbaru. This research used a qualitative approach with a descriptive research type. The subjects of this study consisted of one fourth-grade teacher and 23 students of class IV Al-Malik. Data were collected through observation, questionnaires, and interviews conducted over five meetings. The data were analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing using triangulation techniques. The results showed that the teacher had implemented eight basic teaching skills during the learning process, with the most dominant skills being reinforcement, variation, explaining, and classroom management skills. Students’ learning motivation showed fairly good results, with the most dominant indicators being appreciation in learning, interesting learning activities, and a conducive learning atmosphere. The findings also revealed that teachers’ teaching skills had a relationship with students’ learning motivation, indicating that teachers’ teaching skills play an important role in improving students’ learning motivation during the learning process.
