Abstract

Church and family are the institutions that contribute the most to Christian faith education. The rapid development of educational facilities also has a negative influence on the faith of the younger generation. Various teachings can influence the younger generation if there is no filtering from the church or parents. The lack of response from the church to issues of religiosity in the younger generation can cause a decline in the quality of faith. This study presents the principles of faith and teaching based on Proverbs 3:1-12. Through a hermeneutical approach, this research produces an exposition that explains the application of the principles of faith and teaching based on Proverbs 3:1-12. The result is that faith in God is the foundation of Christianity and cannot be replaced by human knowledge or secular moral truth. The church is obligated to teach strictly about the principles of the Christian faith so that Christian generations are not easily swayed by various teachings.Gereja dan keluarga adalah lembaga yang paling berkontribusi dalam pendidikan iman Kristen. Berkembangnya sarana pendidikan yang sangat pesat juga memberikan pengaruh negatif terhadap iman generasi muda. Beragam ajaran dapat mempengaruhi generasi muda jika tidak ada penyaringan dari gereja maupun orang tua. Kurangnya respons gereja terhadap permasalahan religiositas generasi muda dapat menyebabkan penurunan kualitas iman. Penelitian ini memaparkan prinsip iman dan pengajaran berdasarkan kitab Amsal 3:1-12. Melalui pendekatan hermeunetis, penelitian ini menghasilkan suatu hasil eksposisi yang menjelaskan  penerapan prinsip iman dan pengajaran berdasarkan Amsal 3:1-12. Hasilnya adalah iman kepada Allah adalah fondasi kekristenan dan tidak dapat digantikan dengan pengetahuan manusia atau kebenaran moralitas sekular. Gereja berkewajiban mengajarkan dengan ketat tentang prinsip-prinsip iman Kristen agar generasi Kristen tidak mudah terombang-ambingkan oleh berbagai macam pengajaran.

Abstract

This study is the antithesis of many studies on Gideon that praise and position him as a great leader. It is ironic that Gideon turned out to have a bad legacy to Israel as a result of the cohesion between leadership and the negative side of power and this is rarely exposed by researchers. The purpose of this study is to examine the factors of Gideon's failure and make it an important lesson for leaders to have the right character so that they can reach the end of good leadership (finishing well). Based on the hermeneutic method with a literature study approach, this article finds several negative factors of Gideon, namely: first, unstable emotions triggered controversial decisions as a slaughterer; second, leaving a legacy that led the Israelites to fall into the worship of ephods as idols; and third, having a high lust for power so that he named his son Abimelech, who later became king through intrigue and murder. The results of this study are very useful as an important lesson to every believer, that even though leaders are chosen by God, but as humans they still have weaknesses, so they should not be worshiped excessively.
