Abstract

Furniture (chairs, beds, sideboards and so on) are items needed by every household that potential to be cultivated as a livelihood. Some of the basic materials for making furniture products are available locally (village) and some come from the city. Techniques for making furniture products such as how to make wooden frames, cut furniture cloth or leather, sew furniture fabrics, and the process of assembling and combining them into a furniture product must be owned by furniture workers, in order to open a furniture business. In addition to the technical skills that must be possessed, the required equipment such as tools, sewing machines and so on must also be owned for this furniture business to be successful. Some of the difficulties of Jelbuk furniture entrepreneurs are that they do not have enough skills to sew and do not have a sewing machine. If there is sewing work, it is always given to another party whose existence is 20 km from Jelbuk. This is what makes Jelbuk entrepreneurs less economically empowered. Therefore, the purpose of carrying out this activity is to provide guidance on sewing techniques and procurement of sewing machines as an alternative solution for these furniture entrepreneurs. This activity was carried out in several stages, namely 1) procuring sewing machines that were tailored to the needs of making a furniture product, 2) providing guidance on sewing techniques, and 3) training on techniques for making fashion furniture products according to consumer tastes. Guidance on sewing techniques is given starting from getting to know the sewing machine and its characteristics as well as sewing guidance to make a simple product to the details. The results of the community service activities are enough to help improve the ability of sewing techniques so that all pron products can be done at their own place without having to be given to other parties, so that the completion is faster and more cost efficient. The guidance process is still given for 3 months until it is completely independent. The ability of furniture entrepreneurs increases, the settlement process is faster, the number of consumers increases and will ultimately increase the income of furniture entrepreneurs in Suger Kidul Village, Kec. Jelbuk, Kab. Jember.

Abstract

The majority of the farmers in Pringtali Hamlet, Mayang Village, Jember Regency, are also cattle breeders. Cattle breeders make up the majority of farmers. They construct basic cow enclosures; the majority are joined to the home, while others are independent. For the two of them, the cage's quality does not match the standards for cleanliness. Even in cages attached to the home, the smell of cow poo can be detected up to three meters outside the cage and within the main house. Ammonia is often the gas that is released from either liquid or solid cow manure. This gas can have some negative effects on health; in fact, it can irritate respiratory blood vessels in those 60 years of age and older. Because ammonia gas from cages has not been handled adequately, the living environment is contaminated. The goal of our service is to measure the threshold level of ammonia gas surrounding the cage (using the MQ-135 sensor) in order to ascertain whether the cage is ecologically friendly and healthy. Two cow pens one adjacent to a domestic main house in Pringtali Hamlet and the other from a separate traditional pen have had measurements taken. By monitoring liquid excrement drainage channels and promoting air circulation around the cage, the measurements seek to maintain the cleanliness of the cage environment and the management of ammonia gas content. Cage management so that the livestock community can improve the cleanliness of the living environment.

Abstract

Avocados are one of the important fruit commodities in the world because they have quite high nutritional content. Indonesia is the country with the 5th largest avocado cultivation in the world. Cipedak avocados have recently become popular in cultivation among Indonesian people because they have the advantage of sweet and sticky fruit texture, short productivity, and also their medium size of around 400-600 grams. Avocados have bioactive components such as vitamin C, protein, fiber and carbohydrates. Carbohydrates are the main source for the human body. Carbohydrates contribute 4 kcal. This research aims to measure carbohydrate levels in half-ripe and ripe Cipedak avocados, because the fruit ripening process results in changes in the texture, color and chemical composition of the fruit. Semi-ripe avocados are aged for 5 days, while ripe avocados are aged for 8 days. This analysis uses a UV-Vis spectrophotometer with a maximum wavelength. The wavelength used is 575 nm. The results obtained in this study were that ripe fruit had higher carbohydrate levels compared to half-ripe fruit.

Abstract

Sebagian penduduk Desa Mrawan Mayang Jember berprofesi sebagai peternak puyuh petelur. Usaha yang di tekuni mitra, harapannya bisa berkembang untuk memenuhi pesanan dari berbagai kota, oleh sebab itu perlu adanya pengembangan inovasi dalam teknik beternak. Pada kesempatan sebelumnya peningkatkan kualitas mutu pakan telah dilakukan, akan tetapi masih belum bisa terpenuhi secara optimal. Selain itu skill dan peralatan pelengkap (penerangan) yang dimiliki para peternak puyuh juga terbatas. Berdasarkan permasalahan tersebut tujuan dari PKM ini ialah menerapkan TTG dengan mengembangkan teknik penerangan pada kandang ternak puyuh. Metode pelaksanaan pengabdian yang digunakan ialah Service Learning (SL). Dalam pelaksanaannya melibatkan pengalaman praktis, proses pembelajaran secara akademik dan keterlibatan masyarakat. Mekanisme kegiatan PKM dilakukan melalui tiga tahapan, yaitu tahap pelatihan, tahap instalasi alat dan tahap evaluasi. Hasil penerapan TTG penerangan lampu LED memberikan peningkatan kualitas dan kuantitas produksi telur puyuh dengan estimasi 9-10%. Pemberian cahaya menyebabkan puyuh memiliki kesempatan makan lebih lama sehingga konsumsi pakan lebih tinggi. Rencana tindak lanjut yang dilakukan untuk mendukung peningkatan produksi telur puyuh ialah dengan melakukan monitoring dan evaluasi terhadap mitra untuk mengembangkan secara mandiri teknik pemasangan LED dengan ukuran kandang yang lebih besar. Sehingga dapat memberikan dampak kontinu terhadap ketrampilan dan kualitas telur yang di hasilkan.
