Abstract

This research aims to determine the increase in learning outcomes using the Problem Based Learning learning model on the learning outcomes of class VIII Phase D students in the subject of Catholic Religious Education. This research was conducted at SMP Negeri 1 Sorkam. With a total of 31 students. Classroom action research is a scientific activity carried out by teachers in the classroom using actions to improve the quality of learning. So, classroom action research is very important for teachers to carry out, because solving existing educational problems will help improve the quality of education in Indonesia. Therefore, researchers will discuss how important it is to carry out classroom action research.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the improvement of learning outcomes of Catholic Religious Education and Character Education for class VIII (eight) students at SMP Marsudirini Tualang through the problem based learning (PBL) method. This type of research is classroom action research (PTK). The research sample consisted of 26 students. The research was conducted in 2 (two) cycles, each cycle consisting of 4 (four) components, namely planning, action, observation and reflection. Based on data analysis, the increase in student learning outcomes in cycle I was 75% while in cycle II it increased by 91%. Therefore, based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the problem based learning (PBL) learning method can improve student learning outcomes in the subject of Catholic Religious Education and Character Education for class VIII (eight) at SMP Marsudirini Tualang.

Abstract

This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade VII students on Human material as the Image of Allah through the Problem Based Learning (PBL) model at SMP Negeri 6 Sanggau which is carried out in two cycles. Each cycle consists of four stages, namely planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects in this observation are 37 students in grade VII of SMP Negeri 6 Sanggau. Data collection techniques are carried out through tests (formative tests) and non-tests (observation). The results of the research on the affective aspect of students in cycle I showed an average percentage of 70% increased by 8% to 78% in cycle II. In the first cycle, the percentage of learning outcomes for students in the advanced category was 1%, capable 3%, feasible 24% and newly developed 9%. Meanwhile, in the second cycle, there was an increase in the advanced category of 8%, capable 12%, decent 17% and just developed 0%. So, it can be concluded that learning Catholic Religious Education and Ethics with the Problem Based Learning (PBL) method is proven to improve student learning outcomes. In addition, this learning model can also increase students' confidence, especially in developing communication skills in groups and with educators.

Abstract

This research is aimed to improve the teaching learning process and learning outcomes of Catholic Religious Education and Characters through the Problem Based Learning model. This research is Classroom Action Research. The subjects of the research were the tenth students of the seventh grade of SMP Negeri 2 Sunggal academic year of 2024/2025. The data analysis technique is descriptive analysis consisting of students’ affective learning outcomes data and students’ cognitive learning outcomes data through observation and written tests. The research was conducted in two cycles. The result of the research shows that the percentage of the students’ completeness has increased in each cylce which is 60% to 80%, and the degree of students’ participation in the learning process has increased from 50% to 80%. It can be concluded that the Problem Based Learning model improves the learning outcomes in Catholic Religious Education and Characters of the seventh grade students in SMP Negeri 2 Sunggal in the topic of The family’s role for my selfgrowth and The Friend’s role for my selfgrowth”.

Abstract

Learning is not just about gaining knowledge; it's about growing, evolving, and making a difference. Teachers should design lessons that help students develop both skills and knowledge, leading to the development of strong moral character. Effective learning puts students at the center of the process, making learning active, creative, and engaging. However, at SMP Negeri 1 Tanah Pinem, especially in Catholic Religious Education and Ethics, teaching is still very teacher-centered, and only 61% of students are meeting the learning objectives. To address this, the school has implemented a student-centered approach, including Problem-Based Learning (PBL). After using PBL for two cycles, it was found that while only 16% of students showed improvement in the first cycle, all students met the objectives in the second cycle. This shows that PBL has significantly improved student learning outcomes.

Abstract

Learning in Indonesia aims to increase the intelligence of students intellectually and emotionally. The study of Catholicism, as part of ethics, aims to develop human understanding as a unique image of God. Humans have different uniqueness and abilities, which must be developed through various efforts to benefit themselves, their families, and society. This research aims to improve the learning outcomes of grade VII students of SMPN 3 Sibolga on the material "Unique Image of Allah" and develop critical thinking skills with the Problem Based Learning method. This qualitative research uses observation in two cycles, based on the Kemmis and Mc Taggart research model which includes planning, action, observation, and reflection. The results of the study showed an increase in students' critical reasoning skills and learning outcomes from cycle I to cycle II, with the average achievement increasing from 88% in cycle I to 90% in cycle II. This study emphasizes the importance of teachers as facilitators in creating interesting learning, by involving students in discovering new understandings.

Abstract

This study aims to improve the learning outcomes of seventh-grade students on the material "Human Development Through the Roles of Others" using the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis. This research employed a Classroom Action Research design conducted in two cycles. Each cycle consisted of four stages: planning, action, observation, and reflection. The research subjects were 7 students from the seventh-grade class at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis. Data collection techniques were carried out through tests (formative tests) and non-tests (observations). The results of the study in cycle I showed an average score of 68.14 and a classical learning completeness percentage of 72.42%. In cycle II, the average score increased to 84.85. The average student attendance in cycle I was 100% and remained 100% in cycle II. Student involvement in learning in cycle I was 66.28% (high) and increased to 76.50% (very high) in cycle II. It can be concluded that the PBL model can improve the learning outcomes and activities of students on the material "Human Development Through the Roles of Others" in the seventh-grade class at SMP Negeri 1 Batang Kuis.

Abstract

The aim of this study is to determine: 1) Whether the Problem-Based Learning (PBL) model can improve critical thinking skills, and 2) How to implement the PBL model effectively to enhance students' critical thinking. The PBL model guides students to think critically by utilizing interactive learning media such as educational videos and Lembar Kerja Peserta Didik (LKPD). These tools stimulate students' cognitive processes. This study used Penelitan Tindakan Kelas (PTK) with data collection techniques including observation, tests, non-tests, LKPD, and documentation. The research was conducted over two cycles, each consisting of the following stages: 1) Planning; 2) Implementation; 3) Observation; and 4) Reflection. The improvement in students' critical thinking was demonstrated by the average observation score of 73.8% in the first cycle, which increased to 83.8% in the second cycle. Based on the results, it can be concluded that the study showed a significant improvement in students' critical thinking skills, as evidenced by their enhanced ability to analyze questions, provide opinions, draw conclusions, and evaluate with the support of interactive and appropriate learning media.
