Abstract

Life change is an inevitable process in every individual's journey. This paper explores how the principles of spirituality and biblical teachings can provide guidance and meaning in experiencing positive and meaningful life change. Spirituality is viewed as a search for a higher purpose in life, both from a philosophical and Christian religious perspective. The Bible contains many narratives of characters who underwent significant life transformations, such as Paul and Mary Magdalene. Biblical teachings emphasize principles such as repentance, renewing of the mind, living in the Spirit, and sanctification to achieve true life transformation. Philosophy also offers interpretations that enrich the understanding of spirituality and life change, such as the concept of self-denial, achieving higher consciousness, and the pursuit of a more noble life purpose. To experience positive life change, steps such as self-evaluation, goal setting, action planning, self-discipline, and support from a faith community are necessary. The faith community plays a crucial role in providing moral support, accountability, role models, guidance, and resources for its members going through the process of life transformation.

Abstract

This study aims to explore and analyze the optimization of innovations in Sunday worship as a strategy to enhance congregational participation in ministry at GKSI Bukit Sion Bongkok. The research background is based on the low level of active involvement among congregants, despite the church having sufficient human resources potential. This study employs a qualitative descriptive method with a case study approach, involving in-depth interviews with pastors, congregants, and ministry teams, participatory observation during Sunday worship, and analysis of church documents related to ministry programs. The results indicate that implementing worship innovations, such as creative and contextual liturgy development, utilization of audio-visual technology, and participatory approaches in praise, prayer, and sermons, significantly enhances the emotional and spiritual engagement of congregants. Congregants become more motivated to actively participate in various ministry activities, both within and outside the church. Nevertheless, challenges were identified, including resistance from some congregants to change, budget limitations, and the need for continuous ministry team training. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the church implement sustainable strategies, including regular evaluation of worship innovations, training for ministry teams, and adaptation of innovations to cultural and congregational needs. This study provides practical contributions to church ministry development by emphasizing the importance of innovation as a means to strengthen congregational participation and foster an active spiritual community. The findings may also serve as a reference for other churches in designing Sunday worship that is responsive, creative, and capable of encouraging active congregational involvement in ministry.

Abstract

The Bible clearly outlines various signs that will precede the second coming of Jesus Christ at the end of the age. These signs, such as wars, natural disasters, the rise of false prophets, and cosmic phenomena, are believed to be indicators that the present age is nearing its end and will be replaced by a new reality under the reign of Christ. As global conflicts, economic crises, and intensifying natural calamities unfold, many observers interpret these events as signs that Christ's return is imminent. While the exact timing remains unknown, Christians are urged to remain vigilant and fully prepare themselves spiritually and physically. Christ's glorious return will usher in the resurrection of the dead believers, the transformation of the universe, and the final judgment. For believers, this event marks the culmination of salvation and the fulfillment of the promise of eternal life in Christ's Kingdom.
