Abstract

This article aims to describe the form of Arabic code mixing by Korean pop fans on Tiktok comments column. All data presented is obtained from observations in Tiktok accounts linked to the author's personal account. The observation data is in the form of sentences that contain mixed codes that appear on short videos of Korean pop fans' accounts in the form of captions, comments and sentences in videos. The data collection method used in this study is an observation method with screen capture techniques and note-taking techniques. The findings of the data are then analyzed and presented with a qualitative description explanation. From the results of the study, it appears that the mixed code contained in the Arabic uploads of Korean pop fans on Tiktok accounts is a type of mixed foreign language code or mixed code outward (outer code mixing). Based on the results of the analysis, it shows that in Arabic uploads on TikTok accounts, the Korean Pop fans use a mixture of codes by inserting elements of English and Korean in their uploads. The use of mixed codes of English elements is most predominantly found. The meaning of the mixed code consists of a denotative meaning, namely the actual meaning and the connotative meaning that refers to the distinctive meaning prevailing in the Korean Pop fan community.

Abstract

The role of readers in responding to literary works is very important in determining the quality of literary works in the digital world, such as literary works written in the Wattpad application. Based on this, the researcher conducted research on reader reception of Min 'Ālam Ākhar's novel which was uploaded to the Wattpad application by the username Manjiro57 using Stuart Hall's theory which groups receptions into three categories, namely dominant-hegemonic position, negotiated position and oppositional position. The data in this study were obtained from the comments column on Min 'Ālam Ākhar's novel in the Wattpad application which were collected using the note-taking technique based on a purposive sampling technique. The data found were analyzed using descriptive-analytical methods. This research shows that the dominant-hegemonic position is found more often than the negotiated position or oppositional position. The existence of the dominant-hegemonic position means that this novel is enough to attract the attention of readers. The negotiated position can be a suggestion for novel writers to find out how the storyline that the reader wants. In the oppositional position, the readers provided comments related to several storylines which they think did not make sense.

Abstract

Amid growing global attention to the Palestinian cause, Arabic-language social media has become a key site for expressing solidarity and identity. This study addresses the importance of examining how digital discourse constructs humanitarian solidarity through linguistic and multimodal practices. Drawing on Peled’s concept of linguistic solidarity and Yus’s framework of cyberpragmatics, the research adopts a qualitative approach to analyze posts, hashtags, emojis, and visuals on X (Twitter) that convey support for Palestine. The findings indicate that digital solidarity emerges through the pragmatic interaction of linguistic, visual, and affective resources. Arabic serves as a marker of collective identity and cultural belonging, while English and digital symbols facilitate transnational reach and inclusivity. This interplay underscores how online language functions as a performative act that not only communicates political stance but also enacts empathy and shared humanity. Ultimately, the study contributes to understanding the moral and pragmatic dimensions of language in digital activism and highlights its role in sustaining transnational networks of solidarity.
