Abstract

Aquaponics technology integrates aquaculture and hydroponics, utilizing space and resources efficiently for fish and plant cultivation. This community service program introduces aquaponics technology based on "Budikdamber" (fish farming in a bucket) in Gelam Village, Candi District, Sidoarjo. The activity aims to enhance community skills in utilizing environmentally friendly technology and supporting local food security. The training provided involves the creation of a simple aquaponics system with catfish and water spinach, which can be implemented in small spaces. As a result, the people of Gelam Village showed high enthusiasm for this technology, demonstrating great potential for sustainable agricultural development. The implementation of this aquaponics system is expected to provide economic added value and serve as an example for other villages.

Abstract

The village of Gelam village in Sidoarjo is one of the areas facing a significant problem with the accumulation of organic waste. To address this issue, this community is processing organic waste using Black Soldier Fly (BSF) maggots. The training methods include location surveys, socialization, and direct education to the community about organic waste processing using BSF maggots. The results of this activity show that the community has understood the method of processing waste using BSF maggots and is interested in conducting small-scale maggot cultivation. This activity also helps reduce organic waste accumulation and creates new job opportunities. Therefore, it is the standard of the community in Gelam village.

Abstract

Pakcoy is a highly nutritious vegetable that has significant health benefits. This community service project aims to promote healthy eating and economic empowerment in Gelam Village by introducing innovative culinary techniques using locally grown pakcoy. Through cooking classes, participants learned to make nutritious and delicious dishes such as panna cotta and noodles using this versatile vegetable. The project successfully engaged local women, fostering a sense of community and providing them with new skills that have the potential to start their own businesses. By diversifying agricultural products and promoting value-added processing, this initiative contributes to sustainable village development and empowers women to play a more active role in the community economy.
