Abstract

Leadership is something that everyone should have. Good leadership will bring oneself or others towards the best goals. Not infrequently those who are called leaders actually make their people miserable. Make position as an opportunity to fulfill their heart's desire. Ahab is an example of a leader who does not protect his people, but allows the law to be manipulated for his pleasure. Methods or prevention are needed so that Ahab's form of leadership does not recur. This paper aims to explore Ahab's Leadership in Hannah Arendt's Perspective on the Banality of Evil by using qualitative methods and a library study approach. Through this paper, it can be concluded that Ahab is the perpetrator of the banality of evil because of ideology, shallow thinking and blind obedience. In Hannah Arendt's thought, everyone must think and critically evaluate all things that are inside and outside of human beings.

Abstract

The ecological crisis demands a theological response rooted in local cultural contexts. This study constructs a contextual ecotheology of Batak Toba by dialoguing the concept of tondi in Batak Toba tradition with Sallie McFague's metaphor of the Body of God, employing Stephen B. Bevans' synthesis model. Using a qualitative, literature-study approach, this research examines tondi as a life-giving element that unites humans with all creation within the framework of Debata Mulajadi Nabolon (DMN) and McFin, which understands the universe as God's body, where God is immanently present through the Spirit and Christ. The dialogue reveals four conclusions: first, the Batak Toba community possesses a high ecological consciousness through tondi; second, ecological awareness emphasizes hope for the sustainability of life; third, Batak Toba culture shows an imbalanced attention toward tondi, prioritizing human tondi over nature's; fourth, McFague emphasizes an imaginative relation while tondi emphasizes an ontological one. This study calls for a paradigm shift from anthropocentrism to cosmocentrism.   Abstrak Krisis ekologi menuntut respons teologis yang berakar pada konteks budaya lokal. Penelitian ini mengonstruksi ekoteologi kontekstual Batak Toba melalui dialog konsep tondi dalam tradisi Batak Toba dengan metafora tubuh Allah menurut Sallie McFague, menggunakan model sin-tesis Stephen B. Bevans. Dengan metode kualitatif melalui studi kepustakaan, penelitian ini mengkaji tondi sebagai unsur penghidup yang menyatukan manusia dengan seluruh ciptaan di bawah Debata Mulajadi Nabolon (DMN), serta pemahaman McFague bahwa alam semesta adalah tubuh Allah di mana Allah hadir secara imanen melalui Roh dan Kristus. Dialog ini menghasilkan empat kesimpulan: Pertama, masyarakat Batak Toba memiliki kesadaran ekologis yang tinggi melalui tondi; kedua, kesadaran ekologis menekankan pengharapan akan keberlanjutan kehidupan; ketiga, budaya Batak Toba menunjukkan perhatian yang tidak seimbang terhadap tondi, dengan memprioritaskan tondi manusia di atas tondi alam; keempat, McFague menekankan relasi imajinatif, sedangkan tondi menekankan sifat ontologis. Penelitian ini menyerukan pergeseran paradigma dari antroposentrisme menuju kosmosentrisme.
