Abstract

This research aims to determine the meaning of the denotation and connotation of forms of verbal abuse against children as well as the meaning of the myth of verbal abuse against children in the film Benalu by Sidiq Aryadi. The data analysis technique used is semiotic analysis, namely, Roland Barthes' Semiotic Analysis, to reveal the meaning of connotative, denotative signs, and myt. Verbal abuse is "violence against feelings". Belittling or mocking children can take the form of demeaning the child, insulting names, making adverse treatment between children, stating that the child is not good, worthless, ugly or something that is obtained from mistakes. Oftentimes, parents are not aware that they have committed acts of verbal abuse. The primary and most common causal factor for parents committing verbal abuse is education. Many parents educate their children firmly and harshly, and without realizing it, verbal abuse can have a negative impact on children, even more significant than the impact of physical violence. Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui makna denotasi dan konotasi bentuk kekerasaan verbal pada anak serta makna mitos kekerasaan verbal pada anak dalam film Benalu karya Sidiq Aryadi.  Teknik analisis data yang digunakan yaitu menggunakan analisis semiotik, yakni Analisis Semiotika Roland Barthes untuk mengungkapkan  makna tanda konotatif, denotatif, dan mitos. Kekerasan verbal merupakan “kekerasan terhadap perasaan”. Mengecilkan atau mempermainkan anak dapat berupa sikap merendahkan anak, mencela nama, membuat perbedaan negatif antar anak, menyatakan bahwa anak tidak baik, tidak berharga, jelek atau sesuatu yang didapat dari kesalahan. Seringkali orang tua tidak menyadari telah melakukan tindakan kekerasan verbal. Alasan faktor penyebab utama dan paling banyak ditemui orang tua melakukan kekerasan verbal adalah untuk mendidik. Banyak orang tua mendidik anak dengan tegas dan keras dan tanpa disadari kekerasan verbal dapat memberikan dampak buruk terhadap anak, bahkan lebih besar dari dampak akibat kekerasan fisik. Abstract

The learner's strategy in learning a language is one of the things that we must pay attention to, especially in learning a new language such as English. For students of English education who study English, they are usually given specific strategies starting from the classroom to everyday life. However, it is different from a student's non-English department. They must have their own perspective to learn English which they must know and understand for their own benefit. Both the English and non-English departments must have perspectives and strategies that match their criteria. This research aims to prove the presence of the different strategies they used. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative. The researchers used a questionnaire as their instrument with a total of 32 participants. The finding underlines the two things: the difficulties and the strategies. The difficulties commonly faced by students of non-English department because they realized that English is important but they don’t use English as their everyday life. Thus, it is considered difficult to be practiced. Meanwhile, there were strategic factors used by students both internal factors, self-taught learning using social media, and external factors such as courses. This research gives valuable to the teachers who want to teach their students especially for the learner’s non-English department

Abstract

Various technological improvements were developed to be able to help achieve each material competency in learning. This study aims to: (1) find out the design and development of interactive multimedia with a contextual approach, (2) find out the validity of interactive multimedia with a contextual approach (3) find out the effectiveness of interactive multimedia with a contextual approach in English. This type of research is development using the ADDIE model. Data collection was carried out by recording documents, interviews, questionnaires and tests. The data analysis used is descriptive qualitative analysis, quantitative and inferential statistics. The results of this study are (1) Interactive multimedia is developed using the ADDIE model through 5 stages (analyze, design, development, implementation, evaluation); (2) the validity of interactive multimedia based on the results of the review by content experts and media experts was 96%, the results of the design expert's review were 94.66%, the results of individual trials were 95.88% and small group trials were 98.2% ( 3) the effectiveness of interactive multimedia shows an average pre-test of 52.2 and a post-test score of 81.9. After calculating using the t-test, the results obtained are t-count of 12,595 > t-table 2,074. So H0 is rejected and H1 is accepted. Thus, interactive multimedia with a contextual approach which was developed is effective for improving students' learning outcomes in English.

Abstract

Penelitian ini dilatar belakangi oleh pada saat pembelajaran IPA berlangsung di kelas, siswa masih kurang memahami materi dan merasa bosan sehingga kurang menarik dan efektif. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengembangkan pop up book berbasis barcode materi sistem tata surya Kelas VII Di SMP. Adapun jenis penelitian ini menggunakan research and Development (R&D). Pada perhitungan dari hasil perhitungan uji-t sampel berpasangan yang membandingkan nilai posttest dan pretest pada taraf signifikansi 0,05 dan derajat kebebasan (df) = 27, diperoleh thitung = 12.925 dan ttabel 0.3365. Karena thitung > ttabel maka (H0) ditolak dan (Ha) diterima. Ini menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata pembelajaran posttest siswa kelas VII.9 yang menggunakan pop up book lebih tinggi dari nilai pretest sebelum menggunakan pop up book. Terdapat keefektifan pop up book materi sistem tata surya berbasis barcode pada hasil posttest siswa di kelas VII.9 SMP Negeri 21 Kota Bengkulu.
