Abstract

Morbus Hansen (MH), also known as leprosy, is an infectious disease that causes health problems worldwide. Morbus hansen is a chronic infection that primarily affects the skin and peripheral nervous system. The causative germ is Mycobacterium Leprae which is a rod-shaped, acidic, obligate intracellular bacterium that cannot be cultured in artificial media. The risk of disability can be influenced by several factors, including the type of leprosy, duration of disease, number of nerves affected, onset of leprosy reactions, gender, age, type of treatment, socioeconomic factors, education, ethnicity, occupation, and the way leprosy cases are discovered. Objective: This literature review aims to determine the characteristics of morbus hansen disease. Methods : The method used is literature review with Narrative Review design. Results : The results obtained in this literature are that there are 20 articles obtained with restrictions from 2020 - 2024 and in-depth analysis of the strengths and limitations of each article regarding the characteristics of morbus hansen disease, 20 articles mention the characteristics of morbus hansen disease. the most dominant characteristics of morbus hansen disease in this literature review are age and type of morbus hansen, followed by gender. Although there are several other characteristics such as clinical symptoms and predilection.

Abstract

Background: Burns are serious tissue injuries that require rapid treatment to prevent infection, accelerate healing, and reduce the risk of scarring. One therapeutic innovation is Autologous Skin Cell Suspension (ASCS) using the ReCell device. Based on a real-world registry data study from the United States (Burn Care Quality), ReCell uses a small sample of patient skin processed into a cell suspension and sprayed onto the wound to stimulate skin regeneration and improve healing outcomes. Objective: This literature review aims to analyze the effectiveness of ReCell in healing burns based on ten articles published in the period 2018–2025. Methods: The literature review was obtained from PubMed, ScienceDirect, and Google Scholar, then analyzed narratively. Results: The study results showed that ReCell accelerates re-epithelialization with a shorter healing time compared to conventional skin grafts, and reduces the need for a skin donor area by more than 30%. In addition, ReCell provides better aesthetic results, although its effectiveness in reducing pain, infection, and repigmentation has not been consistent. Several pediatric studies also reported the success of ReCell as a monotherapy. Conclusion: ReCell is a promising method to help heal second-degree (deep partial thickness) to third-degree (full thickness) burns.

Abstract

Morbus Hansen, or better known as leprosy, is an infectious disease that can cause various serious complications, including disability. This study aims to identify risk factors associated with the incidence of disability in Morbus Hansen patients. The research was carried out by collecting data from various sources, research journals conducted previously. The research results show that the risk factors that play a role in the incidence of disability in Morbus Hansen patients include the severity of the disease, delays in diagnosis and treatment, as well as socio-economic factors that influence patient access to medical care. These results have important implications for efforts to prevent and manage Hansen's Morbus, emphasizing the importance of early diagnosis, accessibility of treatment, and special attention to patients with more severe disease.
