Abstract

Early childhood and elementary school reading training is essential in forming a literacy foundation for children. This training activity aims to improve children's reading literacy in Tanjung Pasir Tarakan Village, North Kalimantan. The training methods used are demonstration and training. The training activities are designed through creative and interactive activities to stimulate children in reading activities and help them understand their meaning. The stages of this training activity consist of the initial stage, the implementation stage, and the final stage. The initial stage is a form of planning before the reading training is carried out; the implementation stage is the process of reading training activities. Activities include demonstrations and direct practice of reading with media through picture stories, letter recognition, and short stories. The final stage is to monitor and evaluate the implementation of the activities that have been carried out. The results of the implementation of this activity show that the fishermen's children are very enthusiastic about participating in the reading training. Children show a significant increase in interest in reading activities; children can already recognize letters, their vocabulary increases, they can read simple words, and they can already read short stories (for lower-grade children). This training shows the good impact of this reading training program on children's reading abilities. This training is an early milestone for the development of children's literacy.

Abstract

Tujuan dari kegiatan Pengabdian Kepada Masyarakat ini adalah untuk melaksanakan salah satu bentuk Tri Dharma Perguruan Tinggi. Selain itu kegiatan ini bertujuan untuk memberikan kontribusi besar kepada pengembangan dan penerapan keilmuan kepada masyarakat yang di sini adalah anak usia sekolah. Kegiatan ini mengajarkan anak-anak untuk dapat memiliki rasa nasionalisme melalui pengenalan kuliner lokal. Sebagai generasi penerus bangsa sudah seyogyanya setiap anak memiliki nasionalisme yang tertanam pada jiwa. Metode pelaksanaan kegiatan ini adalah dengan mengumpulkan anak-anak usia sekolah untuk mengikuti kegiatan ini yang bertempat di Mushola An-Nuur Desa Temas Kabupaten Blora. Kegiatan ini dilakukan secara offline selama 1 hari. Hasil dari kegiatan pengabdian ini adalah: 1) anak-anak mengetahui konsep nasionalisme, 2) anak-anak mengetahui definisi kuliner lokal, dan 3) anak-anak mengetahui jenis-jenis kuliner lokal yang ada di Jawa Tengah.

Abstract

The purpose of this Community Service activity is to implement one form of Tri Dharma of Higher Education. In addition, this activity aims to be a means of making a major contribution to the development and application of science to the community, which here are students. This training teaches students to understand the systematics and techniques of writing good and correct scientific papers. The method of implementing this activity was carried out using the Participatory Learning and Action (PLA) method. This training activity was conducted offline for 2 days with 50 participants from SMA N 2 Tarakan. The results of community service activities obtained are: 1) the implementation of training in writing scientific papers for high school students N2 Tarakan has been by the stages previously planned, 2) the students' understanding is increasingly mature towards the training material for writing scientific papers, 3) overall the response of the Scientific Writing training participants is very satisfied with the training provided.
