Abstract

Daerah penelitian berlokasi di Molingkapoto dan sekitarnya, Kabupaten Gorontalo Utara, Provinsi Gorontalo. Secara fisiografi, daerah penelitian berada pada zona pegunugan utara di formasi Batuan Gunung Api Bilungala dan Breksi Wobudu. Secara stratigrafi, daerah penelitian terdiri dari batuan berumur tersier hingga kuarter. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui karakteristik batuan piroklastik daerah penelitian berdasarkan analisis petrografi, dengan menggunakan metode pemetaan lapangan yang merupakan bagian dari pengumpulan data untuk pengolahan data studio, dan metode analisis petrografi yang digunakan untuk pengolahan data laboratorium. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa daerah penelitian terdiri dari perbukitan aliran piroklastik dan dataran aluvial dengan litologi breksi piroklastik dan tuff yang dimana merupakan produk hasil vulkanisme. Analisis petrografi menunjukkan bahwa matriks dari batuan breksi piroklastik daerah penelitian berjenis tufa kristal  (PA 04) yaitu batuan yang didominasi pecahan -pecahan kristal dan tufa litik (PA 24) yang didominasi pecahan -pecahan atau fragmen batuan sementara batuan tufa berjenis litik tufa (PA 18) yaitu batuan yang didominasi pecahan -pecahan atau fragmen batuan.

Abstract

The study area is located in Mootilango Village Anggrek Sub-district, North Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province. Geographically, the study area is located at coordinates 0° 46' 0" - 0° 46' 45” LU and 122° 48' 0” - 122° 48' 45" BT with an area of about 3.7 km². The purpose of this study was to determine the characteristics of tuff rocks through petrological, petrographic and geochemical analysis in the laboratory. The results of petrological identification show that the rock types are coarse tuff, fine tuff and pyroclastic breccia. The results of petrographic analysis show that the tuff in this area belongs to Vitric tuff according to the classification of Schmid (1981). The results of geochemical analysis show that the tuff in the study area belongs to the basalt-andesite type transition rock group according to the classification of Le Bas et al. (1986). Two classification approaches were used in the analysis to determine the magma series of the rock, namely according to Irvine and Baragar (1971), which shows that the rock belongs to the tholeiitic magma series.

Abstract

Gorontalo Province has areas that are prone to landslides, especially in North Gorontalo Regency. This study has two main objectives, namely identifying the lithology that makes up the research area and analyzing the level of landslide vulnerability in area. This study uses the Multi Criteria Evaluation (MCE) method with the use of GIS analysis to achieve its objectives. Determination of the level of landslide vulnerability is carried out by overlaying parameters such as lithology, straightness density, slope gradient, soil type, rainfall and land use. The lithology that makes up the research area consists of andesite, agglomerate, sandstone and alluvial deposit units. Based on the results of the analysis, landslide vulnerability in the research area can be categorized into 3 classes, namely. Low landslide susceptibility class (34.13 km2), medium landslide susceptibility class (66.89 km2) and high landslide susceptibility class (19.65 km2)

Abstract

This study was conducted in Hulawa Village, Buntulia District, Pohuwato Regency, Gorontalo Province, located within the North Arm of Sulawesi, an area known for its epithermal mineralization potential. The research aims to analyze the relationship between geological structures and mineralization patterns. The methodology involved geological surface mapping, structural measurements, lineament analysis, and stereographic interpretation using Dips 7.0 and WinTensor software. Geomorphologically, the study area consists of fault-controlled mountainous and hilly terrains. The identified lithologies include Lapilli Tuff, Porphyritic Rhyodacite, Rhyodacite Breccia, Dacite, Biotite Dacite, and Diorite. Structural analysis indicates that the area was affected by a principal compressional stress (σ1) trending Northwest–Southeast (NW–SE), which generated conjugate fracture systems oriented NW–SE and Northeast–Southwest (NE–SW). These structures acted as conduits for hydrothermal fluid migration. Two dominant vein orientations were identified: NE–SW trending oxidized quartz veins in the northeastern area and NW–SE trending sulfide-rich stockwork veins containing pyrite and chalcopyrite in the southwestern area. Geochemical analysis shows that Cu, As, and Mo anomalies are spatially associated with structural zones, indicating strong structural control on hydrothermal fluid circulation and mineral deposition. Overall, mineralization in the Hulawa area is interpreted to be controlled by conjugate fracture systems and strike-slip fault structures

Abstract

This study investigates the tectonic control on the development of geological structures along the Alo River in Tibawa District, Gorontalo Regency, Gorontalo Province. The research was conducted through geological mapping, structural analysis, and petrographic examination of basalt rock samples. The area is characterized by two major geomorphological units: structural hills and floodplains. Stratigraphically, it comprises basalt units—correlated with the Bilungala Volcanic Formation—and alluvial deposits. Structural analysis reveals two orders of joint structures with dominant orientations of NW–SE and N–S, interpreted as the result of multiple tectonic episodes. Petrographic analysis shows porphyritic and intergranular textures with plagioclase, pyroxene, and minor olivine as dominant minerals. Tectonic stress analysis using Win_Tensor software indicates transtensional regimes characterized by normal faulting and strike-slip faults with extensional components. These structures are associated with tectonic evolution in the North Arm of Sulawesi, transitioning from compressional to oblique-extensional settings during the Late Miocene–Pliocene due to changes in subduction geometry and microblock interactions. This ongoing tectonic activity has implications for regional geological mapping and natural resource management in Gorontalo.

Abstract

Di Indonesia, hal utama yang menjadi permasalahan dalam industri baja adalah, industri baja pada negara ini masih bergantung pada import bahan baku yang sangat tinggi. Hal inilah yang menyebabkan industri baja nasional sangat bergantung pada kondisi pasar baja dunia. Selain nikel (Ni), unsur lain yang berperan dalam bahan baku baja adalah unsur mangan (Mn) dan chromium (Cr). Analisis laboratorium dilakukan pada penelitian ini yaitu berupa analisis petrografi dan juga analisis geokimia. Berdasarkan hasil pengamatan secara megaskopis  pada sampel drilling, profil laterit yang berkembang pada daerah penelitian yaitu dari atas ke bawah di mulai dari limonit saprolite dan bedrock, dengan bedrock terdiri dari normal serpentinit dan brecciated serpentinit. Mineral serpentin grup yang terbentuk yaitu berupa lizardit, krisotil dan antigorit yang dimana mineral ini mengubah mineral ferromagnesia yang ada pada batuan ultramafik. Berdasarkan hasil analisis geokimia kedua Sampel tersebut pada zona limonit  memiliki kadar Cr yaitu 0.95 – 7.53 %.  Mn pada 0.23 – 1.21 %. Pada zona saprolit kadar Cr berkisar antara 0.59 – 2.27 % dan untuk kadar Mn yaitu 0.12 -0.54%. Sementara pada bedrock kadar Cr memiliki nilai 0.28 – 1. 52 % sedangkan unsur Mn berada pada nilai 0.11 – 0.17 %. Pengkayaan chromium dan mangan pada profil laterit daerah penelitian yaitu berada pada zona limonit yang bersamaan dengan kenaikan besi pada zona tersebut
