Abstract

Mobile phones can be well integrated into English instruction as creative and innovative teaching media to increase students' interest and motivation. This study was carried out to discuss the development of Mobile Learning Media (MLM). The goal was to determine the design of mobile phones to be used as android-based mobile learning media and window learning media in the online learning process. It also analyzed the effectiveness of English learning using MLM. The study employed Sugiyono's Research and Development design, which included nine steps: potential and problems, data collection, product design, design validation by experts, product trial, revision of product I, usage trial, revision of product II, and final product. Questionnaires, tests, and learning media in the form of application package files as research instruments were used to collect the data. The collected data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and the independent sample T-test. The findings of this study were as follows: 1) the validation of experts' media and material was in the relevant interpretation of a valid product. 2) MLM product is simple and practical of data to use. 3) The mean of pre-test and post-test results in this class showed a high significance, indicating that the product of MLM is one of the learning media that is very effective to use in the learning process. Students' perception was well-established, with 73.3 percent agreeing to use MLM in mastering passive voice.

Abstract

Differentiated instruction (DI) as a method of the Merdeka curriculum in Indonesia may be problematic for the teacher when implementing it in the classroom. This study investigates Indonesian EFL (English as a Foreign Language) teachers' perspectives regarding implementing Differentiated Instruction in their classrooms. Through qualitative analysis, this research identifies the teachers' challenges and explores the strategies for implementing DI. Semi-structured interviews were used to reveal the challenges and strategies teachers used DI. The collected data were then analyzed qualitatively with the thematic analysis used in this study in analysis of the data. Findings reveal that teachers view DI as important for addressing student diversity, enhancing engagement, and improving academic outcomes. However, significant challenges include adapting learning materials, managing time constraints, and varying readiness levels among teachers and students. Despite their belief that DI is very positive, some challenges highlight how to adopt DI properly; professional development, resource allocation, and strategic planning are essential

Abstract

The formulation of specific and achievable learning outcomes remains critical in the approach to teaching, especially in the EFL context. At the same time, some of the challenges mentioned by educators indicate the problem of defining the objectives, goals and outcomes of a curriculum. This research aims to critically analyze how Indonesian EFL secondary school teachers construct learning objectives in the context of Kurikulum 2013 and Kurikulum Merdeka. This study was an exploratory study using qualitative descriptive research methods. The inclusion of two teachers from the same school was intentional to reduce external bias. Triangulated qualitative data sources included participants' written consent forms and principal interviews, and quantitative lesson plan documents were evaluated using the ABCD and SMART model checklists. Strengths identified centered on high-level thinking skills and child-centered processes, while weaknesses included many frameworks and a lack of objective criteria. Based on the study's findings, a combination of detailed instructional contexts and performance bench marking can positively enhance the formulation of learning goals. They advance knowledge about approaches to implementing and refining instructional practices and goals in conjunction with curricular expectations in different contexts.
