Abstract

Government officials are responsible to the people because they are paid for their services by the fund of the country which is collected from people. They got extra facilities as the government officials but people see them as the oppressors while taking public services. Their offensive behavior hurts the common people who do not have extra money paid for services. This study attempts to make the people aware, conscious, responsible, accountable, and transparent to government officials. The study titled "Uncovering the Chain of Corruption: A Case Study in Bangladesh" delves into the intricate web of corruption within Bangladesh, highlighting systemic issues and identifying key actors involved. This research adopts a mixed-methods approach, utilizing both qualitative interviews and quantitative data analysis, to provide a comprehensive examination of corruption at various levels of governance and society. Findings reveal that corruption in Bangladesh is deeply entrenched, facilitated by a nexus of political patronage, bureaucratic inefficiencies, and socio-economic disparities. The case study uncovers how corruption manifests in public procurement, law enforcement, and the judiciary, perpetuating a cycle of impunity and public mistrust which is conducted at Bangladesh Road Transport Authority in Rajshahi Zone. Furthermore, the study explores the socio-cultural dimensions that normalize corrupt practices and examines the role of international aid and non-governmental organizations in both exacerbating and combating corruption. Recommendations emphasize the need for robust legal frameworks, greater transparency, and public accountability mechanisms, alongside fostering a culture of integrity and ethical governance. This study contributes to the broader discourse on anti-corruption strategies, offering insights that are crucial for policymakers, stakeholders, and scholars aiming to address corruption in developing countries.

Abstract

The number of married students pursuing higher education is increasing, yet academic research often overlooks their experiences. This study addresses the gaps, such as mental condition, academic achievements, and career successes, by investigating the multifaceted crises and opportunities associated with combining marriage and higher education. This study aims to identify the major crises and opportunities involved, detailing the specific challenges related to time management, finances, social support, communication, and mental/physical health experienced by married students, explore the interplay between these factors, and investigate the strategies employed by the students to navigate these challenges. This study employed a quantitative method approach, and the 54 samples were collected through questionnaires from married students at the University of Rajshahi. Descriptive analysis techniques are applied to quantitative data methodologies in data analysis. Findings revealed that financial strain, social and mental pressure, academic difficulties, and familial responsibilities are major Problems. This study underscores the need for universities to implement supportive interventions, such as enhanced financial aid and flexible course scheduling, to provide better support for married students. The findings contribute to a more nuanced understanding of the complexities of student life and inform the development of effective support strategies.

Abstract

This study examines the socio-economic conditions of students admitted to the Department of Political Science at Rajshahi University for the academic year 2023-24. Using a combination of secondary literature and primary data, the research investigates key socio-economic factors influencing students' aspirations, including family income, which is 44% (below 10,000 per month), parental education (only 34% completed secondary education), regional disparities, and gender representation. Our findings show that most of the students admitted into the university are from the grassroots area of the village. We also found gender disparities, though narrowing, persist due to socio-cultural barriers, while students from rural areas (82%) remain demotivated due to infrastructural and resource constraints. By observing these trends within the broader context of Bangladesh's higher education landscape, the study underscores the need for targeted policy interventions to ensure greater equity and inclusivity in higher education in Bangladesh. The analysis provides a nuanced understanding and recommendations of how socio-economic dynamics interact with educational aspirations and institutional practices, offering valuable insights for educators, policymakers, and researchers.

Abstract

This research examines the challenges and successes of United Nations (UN)-led ceasefire enforcement in the protracted Israel-Palestine conflict. It explores the operational, political, and diplomatic complexities the UN faces in mediating and maintaining ceasefires in one of the world's most contentious and enduring conflicts. The study highlights the limitations of UN peacekeeping mechanisms, such as impartiality and resource constraints, and the influence of powerful state actors with vested interests in the region. Through a review of historical ceasefires and their enforcement, the research identifies key factors contributing to both their failures and occasional successes, such as localized trust-building efforts, international diplomatic pressure, and grassroots cooperation. It underscores the need for more robust frameworks that address asymmetries of power, incorporate regional stakeholders, and enhance the UN’s capacity for long-term conflict resolution. The findings offer insights into the broader implications for international peacekeeping and propose recommendations for strengthening the UN's role in navigating complex geopolitical disputes like Israel-Palestine.

Abstract

Purpose. This study investigates the perceptions, expectations, and attitudes of students at Rajshahi University regarding the interim government in Bangladesh, which emerged during a critical phase of democratic transition. The interim government's primary role is to implement essential reforms and ensure the transfer of power to a democratically elected political government through fair and timely elections. Design/Methodology/Approach. A mixed-method approach was adopted, combining both qualitative and quantitative data collection techniques. Structured printed questionnaires were distributed among Rajshahi University students, incorporating both closed-ended and open-ended questions. The closed-ended questions provided measurable data, while the open-ended section allowed respondents to freely express their views. Microsoft Excel was used for data analysis and graphical representation, and Microsoft Word was used for drafting the report. Findings. The results indicate that the majority of students at Rajshahi University hold a generally positive view of the interim government. Most respondents support the idea of essential reforms before the transition to an elected government. However, there is a divergence of opinion regarding the duration of the interim government's tenure. While some students advocate for an extended reform period, others emphasize the urgency of restoring a political government through prompt elections. This division reflects the broader societal debate surrounding the balance between stability and democratic continuity. Originality/Value. This research contributes original insights into youth perspectives on governance and democratic transitions in Bangladesh. It highlights the role of educated youth as active stakeholders in political discourse and offers valuable data that can inform future policy decisions during transitional political phases. By focusing on Rajshahi University students, the study provides a focused but significant window into how Bangladesh’s younger generation interprets and engages with periods of political transformation.

Abstract

Indian Sub-continent, especially Bangladesh, India, and Pakistan were divided by Islamic ideology. Bangladesh gained independence from West Pakistan in 1971 with the unbelievable support of the neighboring country India. The present article attempts to find out about the recent time controversy through social media between these countries. In the 2023 Men’s World Cup Cricket Final match India vs Australia held on November 19, 2023, Australia won by 6 Wickets. Here Bangladeshi young cricket lovers enjoyed supporting Team Australia but Indians could not take it positively. They think Bangladesh as a Muslim country avoids Hindus and does not respect and love them. However, the study reveals that 83% disagree that Islam is related to support. 59.50% voted that a player’s behavior is responsible for the support of India and only 3% think that religion may affect supporting the cricket matches. Finally, an effective recommendation has been structured for resolving the crisis.

Abstract

The Bangladesh government has played a significant role in making accountability effective since 2009 through various initiatives and policies aimed at improving governance and transparency. In this study, we have endeavored to find out the problems and limitations of the government that hinder making the government accountable. Numerous Constitutional Provisions ensure accountability including Articles 55, 56, 70, 76, 77, 93, and 94. Governmental and Non-governmental institutions are also concerned with making the government accountable and answerable like the Right to Information Act. 2009, Anti-government Commission, Information and Communication Act, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), and so on. However, the government's commitment to promoting accountability and transparency is crucial in building public trust, fostering development, and combating corruption in the country. Finally, we proposed a model that will ensure accountability if the policymakers take it immediately.
