Abstract

The Bangladesh government has played a significant role in making accountability effective since 2009 through various initiatives and policies aimed at improving governance and transparency. In this study, we have endeavored to find out the problems and limitations of the government that hinder making the government accountable. Numerous Constitutional Provisions ensure accountability including Articles 55, 56, 70, 76, 77, 93, and 94. Governmental and Non-governmental institutions are also concerned with making the government accountable and answerable like the Right to Information Act. 2009, Anti-government Commission, Information and Communication Act, Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), and so on. However, the government's commitment to promoting accountability and transparency is crucial in building public trust, fostering development, and combating corruption in the country. Finally, we proposed a model that will ensure accountability if the policymakers take it immediately.

Abstract

This paper examines the trends and crises surrounding administrative accountability in Bangladesh from 2009 to the present. Bangladesh, characterized by its complex political landscape and socio-economic challenges, faces significant hurdles in ensuring transparency and integrity within its administrative institutions. Drawing upon a comprehensive review of academic literature, official reports, and empirical evidence, this study analyzes the evolution of administrative accountability mechanisms and explores the factors shaping their effectiveness. Key themes include the role of oversight bodies, legal frameworks, and institutional structures in promoting or impeding accountability within the Bangladeshi administrative system. The paper also investigates prominent crises and scandals that have exposed vulnerabilities in the accountability framework, highlighting their origins, impacts, and implications for governance. Through rigorous analysis and synthesis of existing literature, this study aims to contribute to scholarly discourse and policy debates on administrative accountability in Bangladesh. By identifying critical challenges and opportunities, it provides a foundation for informed decision-making and strategic interventions to strengthen accountability mechanisms in the country.

Abstract

This study focuses on the relationship between students' socioeconomic backgrounds and their academic success at the university level. The goals were to identify factors influencing students' academic success and analyze the connection between socio-economic status and academic achievement. A sample of 132 participants from the University of Rajshahi was chosen through simple random sampling. Structured questionnaires were distributed to the respondents. CGPAs are used to measure academic performance. In this study, factors such as parental income, education level, occupation, students' access to resources, and learning environments are considered to evaluate overall academic success. The results reveal a significant correlation between socioeconomic status (SES) and academic achievement, with students from higher SES backgrounds often performing better due to greater access to educational resources, mentorship, and stable living conditions.
