Abstract

One of the nutritional problems that is currently a concern of the government is stunting. In 2020 the prevalence of stunting in the world is reported to reach 149.2 million children (22%). Based on World Bank data for 2020, the incidence of stunting in Indonesia ranks 115th out of 151 countries in the world and 3rd in the Southeast Asia Region. The purpose of this study is to find out the description of the handling of stunting in toddlers in the Working Area of the Jagir Health Center, Surabaya. The analysis used was univariate analysis by looking at the distribution of the frequency of stunting under five. The results of research on the nutritional status of toddlers based on the percentage of height for age showed that as many as 0.6% (15 toddlers) were found to be stunted, which was divided into two categories, namely short and very short in the Working Area of the Jagir Health Center, Surabaya, spread across 3 urban villages. Based on the percentages for December 2022 - February 2023, there was a decrease in stunting toddlers who were found. Treatment  carried out to reduce stunting rates at the Jagir Health Center are monitoring body weight and height through home visits, providing stunting food in the form of animal protein assisted by KSH to deliver stunting food and monitoring the food until it is consumed, providing KIE to family members, as well as coordination with cross-sectors if there are obstacles related to non-health problems.

Abstract

Efforts to improve the quality of human resources through education and health must of course start early, both during preschool and school years. The implementation of PHBS in schools needs to be instilled by the school community so that all students become accustomed to implementing it. The purpose of this study was to find out the description of PHBS in educational institutions within the working area of ​​the Jagir Health Center. This study used a descriptive quantitative study with a cross-sectional approach and data collection was carried out by observation and a checklist of educational institution PHBS assessment questionnaires. There are 18% of elementary schools in class III, and 82% in class IV. There are 11% of junior high schools that are included in classification III, and 89% are included in classification IV. There are 100% of high school schools that fall into the classification of classification IV. The intervention provided by the Jagir Health Center was conducting counseling for UKS teachers. In addition, the Jagir Health Center also carried out other intervention programs, namely measuring PHBS in every educational institution twice a year. Support and introduction of the PHBS program for school principals, teachers, school caretakers, canteen keepers by holding regular meetings in the context of forming healthy schools.

Abstract

Based on data from the World Health Organization (WHO) in 2017, more than half of the deaths of children under five years are caused by diseases that can be prevented and treated by easy and affordable interventions. The prevalence of wasting under five according to the Indonesian Nutritional Status Survey (2022) in the city of Surabaya is 6.1%. The wasting rate in the city of Surabaya is below the national and provincial averages. Meanwhile, the prevalence of underweight toddlers in the city of Surabaya is 7.5%, this prevalence rate is below the average prevalence of East Java Province, which is 15.8%. Descriptive research with retrospective design, using accidental sampling. In January and February, nutritional status in the normal category had the highest percentages, namely 80.86% and 82.26%. Interventions carried out by health workers resulted in a decrease in the percentage of malnutrition in February by 0.11%. The risk of over nutrition decreased by 1.12%, in nutritional status in the category of overweight and obesity there was also a decrease of 0.04% and 0.37%. Handling programs in reducing malnutrition rates in toddlers, namely monitoring weight and height / body length through home visits, giving milk (CFC), giving KIE to family members, coordinating with cross-sectors if there are obstacles related to non-health problems, there are a decrease in malnutrition status from 4 (0.15%) toddlers in January 2023 to 1 (0.036%) toddlers in February 2023, so that the numbers found are below the minimum target of 1.8% malnutrition rate of the total toddlers examined. The factor of malnutrition is due to congenital abnormalities or what is commonly called a congenital disease.
