Abstract

In babies, the length of time for umbilical cord removal varies greatly, namely within 3 days, 5 days, 7 days. During the healing process, the umbilical cord can be said to fall off quickly if the length of time for it to fall off is less than 5 days. There are several tools used to tie the umbilical cord, namely using an umbilical cord clamp and using umbilical cord thread. This research aims to determine the difference in length of umbilical cord removal in newborns who use threads and those who use umbilical cord clamps at BPM Agustinar, Amd. Keb Lempur Tengah in 2023. This research is a pre-experimental type of research with a post-test only design, with divided into two groups, namely the group with thread and the group with umbilical cord clamp, which was carried out at BPM Agustinar, Amd. Keb in March-April 2023. The research population was all newborn babies at BPM Agustinar, Central Lempur starting from the start of the research until the sample was sufficient. The number of samples in this study was 16 respondents. Data analysis used the Independent T-Test. In the research results, the average length of umbilical cord removal for babies who used umbilical cord clamps was 6.38, while the average value for newborns who used umbilical cord clamps was 8.13. The results of the Independent T-Test statistical test showed a p-value of 0.033 (p<0.05).  From the research results, it was concluded that there was a difference in the length of time the umbilical cord was removed for newborns who used umbilical cord thread with an umbilical cord clamp.  It is hoped that the baby's mother will always keep the umbilical cord clean and dry, so that the process of drying the umbilical cord is faster.

Abstract

Back pain in pregnancy is common, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. In the world of health, alternative methods are being created to reduce pain in mothers during pregnancy and childbirth. Endorphin massage is the best nonpharmacological therapy to deal with these problems. This study aimed to determine the effect of acupressure and endorphin massage techniques on the intensity of back pain in third-trimester pregnant women. This type of research is a pre-experiment with one group pre-test post-test design. Samples were taken from a population that met the inclusion criteria of 20 pregnant women. The sampling technique used an accidental sampling technique. The research instrument used the SOP of acupressure and endorphin massage techniques and the Numeric Rating Scale pain observation sheet. The results showed that before acupressure and endorphin massage, almost half (45%) of all pregnant women experienced severe pain. After acupressure and endorphine massage, none of the respondents (0%) experienced severe pain. The results of the Dependent T-test with α = 0.05 obtained Asymp.Sig.=0.001, so the p-value <0.05 indicates the effect of acupressure and endorphin massage techniques on the intensity of back pain in pregnant women. The conclusion is that there is an effect of acupressure techniques and endorphin massage on the intensity of back pain in third-trimester pregnant women. It is recommended that health workers improve their competence in the service of acupressure techniques and endorphine massage.

Abstract

Data from the Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey (SSGI), the stunting rate in West Sumatra in 2021 was 23.3%, which is below the national average. In 2022 there will be an increase from 1.9% to 25.2%, so that it is currently above the national average, namely 21.6%. Stunting prevention efforts are focused on 1000 HPK, because this period is an important period in determining the quality of life of children. This community service activity aims to help increase the knowledge of mothers of toddlers about stunting so that it can improve the nutritional status of children under five and also the knowledge gained can be disseminated by mothers of toddlers who receive the training. The method used is through brainstorming, lectures. Resource persons for this activity include the person in charge of the health center health promotion program, a team of midwifery lecturers at the University of West Sumatra. Community service activities ran well and smoothly, participants who took part in the counseling were able to explain the meaning of stunting, how to prevent stunting, signs and symptoms of stunting, and how to detect stunting. The hope is that there will be an increase in good nutritional status and reduce the incidence of stunting.
