Abstract

The lack of communication causes dissatisfaction and distress among conscious intubated patients, which may result in treatment refusal. This preliminary study sought to identify attitudes of nurses towards communication with conscious intubated patients. Thus, possible solutions to improve the communication challenges if exist by finding the attitude of nurses on communication with conscious intubated patients may be explored. Preliminary survey was conducted among selected nurses through convenient sampling method. Questionnaire self-developed, validated were distributed and analyzed descriptively. Almost all respondents believed that conscious patients do want to communicate during intubated period and eighty two percent of the respondents agreed that communication with conscious intubated patients is possible. Seventy five percent respondents have tried to communicate using both verbal and non-verbal methods but 70% have faced challenges. Though only thirty seven percent of the respondents have been taught how to communicate with the intubated conscious patients, sixty four percent of respondents have never asked for any tools for communication. To overcome the communication challenges majority 103 (82.4%) of the respondents stated the requirement of standardized communication tool. The result indicates a need to develop standardized communication tool to ease communication with conscious intubated patients.

During the adaptation process, it is not uncommon for mothers to experience discomfort, one of which is back pain. Although back pain is a physiological issue, it still requires some form of management, such as prenatal yoga. The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of prenatal yoga in reducing back pain in pregnant women in their third trimester in the working area of the Nanggalo Health Center, Padang. A quasi-experimental study design using a pre and post-test design with a control group. The sample in this study consisted of 38 respondents using purposive sampling technique. Data analysis was conducted using the Independent T-Test, which was preceded by tests for normality and homogeneity. Research results: There is an effect of prenatal yoga in reducing back pain in pregnant women in their third trimester. There is an effect of prenatal yoga in reducing back pain in pregnant women in their third trimester in the working area of the Nanggalo Health Center, Padang, with a p-value (0.000<0.050).

Abstract

Back pain in pregnancy is common, especially in the third trimester of pregnancy. In the world of health, alternative methods are being created to reduce pain in mothers during pregnancy and childbirth. Endorphin massage is the best nonpharmacological therapy to deal with these problems. This study aimed to determine the effect of acupressure and endorphin massage techniques on the intensity of back pain in third-trimester pregnant women. This type of research is a pre-experiment with one group pre-test post-test design. Samples were taken from a population that met the inclusion criteria of 20 pregnant women. The sampling technique used an accidental sampling technique. The research instrument used the SOP of acupressure and endorphin massage techniques and the Numeric Rating Scale pain observation sheet. The results showed that before acupressure and endorphin massage, almost half (45%) of all pregnant women experienced severe pain. After acupressure and endorphine massage, none of the respondents (0%) experienced severe pain. The results of the Dependent T-test with α = 0.05 obtained Asymp.Sig.=0.001, so the p-value <0.05 indicates the effect of acupressure and endorphin massage techniques on the intensity of back pain in pregnant women. The conclusion is that there is an effect of acupressure techniques and endorphin massage on the intensity of back pain in third-trimester pregnant women. It is recommended that health workers improve their competence in the service of acupressure techniques and endorphine massage.

Abstract

Background: As a major public health concern on a worldwide scale, breast cancer impacts not just the physical health of patients but also their mental, emotional, social, and spiritual well-being, frequently leading to a decline in QoL.  Although both family support and religion are known to have a significant impact on quality of life, the combined impacts of these two characteristics have not been thoroughly studied, especially in the cultural setting of Indonesia. Objective: The purpose of this research is to look at how breast cancer patients in Sukabumi, West Java, Indonesia, fare when it comes to family support, religious affiliation, and quality of life. Methods: The 320 women diagnosed with breast cancer at four different Sukabumi hospitals participated in a quantitative cross-sectional study that took place in 2020 and 2021.  To gather data, researchers used validated instruments such as the EORTC QLQ-C30 for quality of life, the Family Support Scale for family support, and the Duke University Religion Index (DUREL) for religiosity.  The associations between variables were examined using descriptive and inferential methods, including multiple regression. Results: The mean scores for family support, religiosity, and QoL were 12.51 (SD = 2.161), 22.89 (SD = 3.554), and 44.04 (SD = 8.556), respectively. Simple regression analysis revealed significant positive relationships between family support (B = 2.718, p < 0.001, R² = 47.1%) and religiosity (B = 1.664, p < 0.001, R² = 47.8%) with QoL. Multiple regression analysis indicated that family support and religiosity jointly explained 57.2% of the variance in QoL (p < 0.001). Quality of life (QoL), family support (12.51; SD= 2.161), and religion (22.89; SD= 3.554) had respective mean ratings of 44.04 (SD= 8.556).  The results of the simple regression analysis showed that religiosity (B = 1.664, p < 0.001, R² = 47.8%) and family support (B = 2.718, p < 0.001) were significantly positively correlated with quality of life (QoL).  According to multiple regression analysis, 57.2% of the variation in quality of life (QoL) was explained by both family support and religion (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Religion and the support of family members are important factors in determining quality of life for breast cancer patients.  Their combined impact highlights the significance of care options that incorporate spiritual and familial support.  These results give light on how to improve the quality of life and holistic treatment for breast cancer patients in Indonesia by creating interventions that are culturally specific.

Abstract

Introduction: Pregnancy is the physiological state in which a woman undergoes the development and growth of a fetus within her uterus. The increase in gestational age leads to a more significant number of changes experienced by pregnant mothers, such as discomfort in the lower back, particularly towards the end of pregnancy. One way to alleviate lower back pain is through the practice of hypnobirthing. Material and Methods: This study is a literature review examining the efficacy of hypnobirthing in alleviating low back pain in pregnant women. Articles about the specific theme were chosen from 2018 to 2023 using electronic databases, including Science Direct, PubMed, and Google Scholar, as well as open knowledge maps throughout the article search. The analysis of literature studies was conducted using the PRISMA approach by researchers. Results: Of the total 138 articles selected, 13 studies were eligible and thoroughly reviewed, and only 10 could be analyzed. In the results of this study, no one conducted research on the Effectiveness of Hypnobirthing in Reducing Low Back Pain Among Pregnant Women. Researchers found research on hypnobirthing but with different objectives or samples. Similarly, to overcome low back pain in pregnant women, researchers did not find hypnobirthing as an intervention. Based on these findings, the Effectiveness of Hypnobirthing in Reducing Low Back Pain Among Pregnant Women. It can be used as a novelty in further research. Conclusion: Researchers did not find research on the Effectiveness of Hypnobirthing in Reducing Low Back Pain Among Pregnant Women. Based on these findings, the Effectiveness of Hypnobirthing in Reducing Low Back Pain Among Pregnant Women can be used as a novelty in future research.

Abstract

Breast cancer is one of the causes of death in women. To reduce the death rate in breast cancer sufferers, early detection is necessary, which can be done through Breast Self Examination. Where BSE is the easiest way to do it, but there are still many women who don't know how to do BSE properly. The purpose of this study is to find out how health education affects women's knowledge of BSE as a means of early breast cancer screening in Bengkulu City. This research method uses pre-experimental with one group pre-post test design. The population in this study were women aged 26-35 years with a total sample of 86 people using purposive sampling technique. The results of the T Test statistical test p value = 0.000, this shows that there is an influence of Health Education on women's level of knowledge about BSE. Health education can increase knowledge, so nurses need to carry out health education about BSE in early detection of breast cancer.
